Summary

Can they use their newfound powers to save their hometown, or will they die trying?

The summer is over, and the promised get-together results in an epic sharing of the transformational adventures that have gifted Akiko, Saxony, Georjayna, and Targa with their elemental powers.

When the Elementals are recruited by Petra to execute a super-secret global project that is supposed to change humanity for the better, it seems as though the girls will be rocketed to fortune and glory. But when they accidentally unleash a dark and terrible force, things deteriorate rapidly into death and destruction....

This deadly entity seems immune to their magic, and it is too late to turn back.

The Elementals is authored from three points of view and is the sixth and final audiobook in the Elemental Origins, a series of captivating YA urban fantasy novels that can be listened to in any order. If you like new twists on elemental lore, simmering romance, and strong female lead characters, then you’ll love A.L. Knorr’s teen fantasy adventure.

The groan became a growl.

I whirled, raking the trees for whatever made the sound.

The forest had lost its color, just as part of the sky had. I blinked and rubbed my eyes, thinking something was wrong with my vision. When I opened my eyes the view was the same. The forest and sky were shifting from the dim color of early morning to shades of gray. In fact, the edges of everything looked blurry, like a heavy fog had gathered.

The growl came again, from everywhere and nowhere. My heart galloped in my chest.

"Where are you?" I yelled into the trees. "Show yourself!"

My answer was a deep roll of thunder...or was it a slow, throaty laugh?

The forest grew dark, and the trees faded from view, swallowed up in the unnatural fog. Cold slime felt heavy on my skin, and I scraped at my cheeks with my fingers, letting out a yell of frustration.

How could I fight an enemy I couldn't see?

Loved it!

It was wonderful to see all the girls together again. This segment of their story was full of surprises. I felt for Petra when she found out some of the answers to the question she was looking for. Betrayal hurts but Petra will have to decide if she can forgive and move forward.
The ending of their story was full of emotion.
I’m excited for each of them as the being their new adventures but I’m a bit sad to see them go their separate ways, especially Akiko.
I can’t wait to find out where their journeys will lead them.

Brilliant ending to this chapter

This is the final book in the elemental series; well, this chapter of it anyway!

The story begins with the four characters that we have met in Saltford meeting up and coming clean with each other about what happened to them over the summer. What follows involves all five girls, a huge plan, and something that puts Saltford in mortal danger, leaving the girls with a huge decision as to whether to stay anonymous or to save their city.

I don’t like to post spoilers, but Abby wraps up the series in an exciting, climactic way that, whilst finishes this chapter, absolutely leaves it open to follow the girls’ stories further.

Gabra Zackman does a great job of narrating the book, managing to keep all of the voices separate and distinct, as always it’s brilliant to hear it brought to life in this way.

Breathtaking conclusion

If I could give this book more stars, I would - it was breathtaking!

All the Elementals come together and think they are doing the right thing. However, all is not as it seems and Petra finds out some truths.

In a rage, she confronts her boss and unleashes a demon.... one that will take all the Elementals working together to defeat.

Non-stop action after the demon was unleashed and it was truly spectacular.

Yet again, Gabra Zackman does a wonderful job of bringing this story to life.

Amazing Read. Loved it!

This is Knorr's "Avengers" story where her characters come together, share their secrets and fight a common enemy. Since reading Born of Water, I have been looking forward to this and it did not disappoint. She understands how to tell a story and keep her readers captivated

excellent

Petra signs on to the company that offered the opportunity of the dig. Her first mission was to recruit and in the end secrets come to light that instead of recruiting she intends to destroy the company that has not so good intentions.

Elementals in action

What an imagination! I loved hearing about the elemental girls coming together and being joined by Petra, who had her own story as well. There is even a reference to the latest hero, Ibby. Hear about them being lured by and then defeating an evil corporation connected to an evil being. It’s almost sad to have the story come to an end!

Exciting bridge from novel to novel

Having read all the elemental books leading up to this one I was excited to see how the girls would come back together. More team action, please! While the story wasn't as much development on any of the given characters as the individual books, it does serve as a good bridge between them and also to future stories...some serious setting up done before the end.

As far as performance was concerned, the acting and inflections weren't what I might have chosen, but neither were they distracting from getting lost in the story...except the weird quasi-Australian accent. If the story itself hadn't identified the character as being from Australia I would never have been able to guess it. It would have been better to have left that one alone.

Overall a worthy addition to the collection from a stellar author.

Goosebumps ... real ones!

I wondered how will they all get together, and let me tell you I did not expect this. In this book they all shine as bright as stars, it all made sense, every ability, emotion, situation they encountered before - it just clicked, like those beautiful intricate puzzles of old, where if you made a mistake it would either break apart or spray your face with acid.
I ended up with tears in my eyes, heart constricted, and then with elation I finally felt goosebumps.
I enjoyed how Petra merged with the group - very honest and open. How "too good to be true" as the deal they got with the TNC made them into a fierce team. How Jessie even though not a supernatural had something even better in today's world - magic of a hacker.
Ending, and the monsters they dealt with had me shaken, I will enjoy reading these books many times to come.
