Summary

Welcome to the Gun Show!

The top 10 list is populated. The sponsorship program is open. The difficulty is ramping up. The first three floors were nothing compared to what Carl and Donut now face.

The Iron Tangle. An impossibly complicated subway system built out of the world's subterranean railway systems, all combined and then tied together into a knot. Up is down. Down is up. Close is far. The cars are filled with monsters, the railway stations are less than safe, and the exit is always just a few stops away.

But there is hope. For the first time, the crawlers are all working together. The loot is better than ever. And the secret to unraveling it all may be hidden in the pages of a seemingly useless book.

Welcome, crawlers. Welcome to the fourth floor of the dungeon.

Such a great combination of story and reader

Another entertaining chapter in this series, brought to life by the talented Jeff Hays. Be sure to listen to the post-story bonus at the end for the greatest laughs.

Guest voice was a mistake

Love everything about Carl's Crawl, but the addition of (I assume) an amateur guest voice in this one was a poor idea. Jeff Hays' narration and characterisation is spot on throughout, the addition of a flat performance by a guest voice was jarring.

Enjoy games? Give it a listen!

Well narrated as with the others in the series. Story is really well crafted and making it easy to listen too and binge! Now I’m back in the office regularly this series has become a great listen between home and the office!

Faultless and inspired

I really can't fault the writing and narration. Matt has created a whole virtual world, with a consistent and inventive magic/science system, likeable and distinct characters and plenty of Easter egg clues to bubble under the surface for future development. The narration is as good as any you'll find in audiobooks. And that's coming from someone with a library of 800 audiobooks

it's addictive, God damn it and educational

you never know how it's all gonna end . if it's during a multi level survival magical televised event to the rest of the universe this could come in handy...

Neeew ACHIEVEMENT: Trilogy?

Remember when all good series were trilogies? I bet you are glad this one is going to be more than just 3 books then!

Rewaarrd: A sense of emptiness and anticipation until the next book is released....

Just get it...

It’s as original and amazing as the previous two. I hope Matt continues this series for as long as his liver can hold out against the Winnie The Poo reviewer comments fueling his alcoholism. XD Don’t change anything. Just keep this train wreck rolling. “Choo Choo MF’ers!”

That final commercial about JTJ was priceless btw. Thanks for laughs!

Best Story I have read in Years!

Hooked in the first five minutes. Easy to actually care about the characters. Well written, would happily read a book for all 18 levels. Anyone who gives this book a bad review deserves to serve time in the Dungeon.

Goddammit Donut, this book is awesome

Another awesome entry to this series, you should know what to expect if you listened to the previous two.
Some nice surprises in this one, and I just can't wait for book 4.

Story kind of dragged.

Around 3/4ish of the book it kind of just drags and feels like this book should have either ended hours earlier or moved to the next floor but the author didn’t want to do either and just drug it out.

Still Fun, but I Don’t Like the Train Line

This series is hilarious! I have laughed out loud several times throughout, including this one. There is so much to love! That said, the whole train line element is not my thing. I’ve taken the NYC subway numerous times and know how convoluted it is. Hearing about the ridiculously complex network the dungeon had sort of bored me. Every time the lines were discussed I tuned out and waited for a decision to be made or an event to occur.
Despite my dislike of the rail system, there were some pretty cool ways to farm experience with it. Gory ones too! Some characters jumped levels at a time due to these scenarios!
There is more intrigue in this story, with some vicious betrayals and new alliances. Some old faces reappear, adding new directions to the plot.
Jeff Hays is again awesome. He is such an amazing narrator.

Liked it overall, but...

I love Jeff Hays' narrative style. The characters are still great, the series is still good, it's still funny but this story is annoying. Once everything is explained you get it, but its used a gimmicky puzzle where the clues tell you literally nothing for a payoff that's alright at best but it doesn't make up for the rest of the story being a cluster fuck. You're like, "What the hell is even going on?" There's no legit progression aside from movement toward next to nothing, and the entire story is a mess, followed by ".....tadaaa..." I honestly didn't even care about what was going on by the end, even with the great characters and superb voice acting I was like "just let this bullshit finish already." It's not like you can just ignore it, since all the characters do is act confused about shit the entire story with no real goal other than "get down more stairs." And it's not like you can Sherlock Holmes the ending with the shitty clues. It's a mystery LitRPG, without anything a mystery is supposed to have.

I'm glad I listened to this one first, because without Jeff Hays, I'd have hated this one, and I loved the other books in the series.

"Glerp glerp!"

Quickly becoming a stable of system apocalypse genre series. definitely the funniest, by far. The story is very well written, and the dialogue is fantastic.

Jeff Hays back at it with his signature butter smooth narration.
