For those looking for a book on 'DevSecOps' that might be hesitating to pick this one up, thinking it's out of date, fear not. Part 6 of the book (the final part) goes into detail how you can 'shift left' and include security into all stages of the development lifecycle, starting with requirements, having it be part of the build pipeline and so forth. The word 'DevSecOps' is maybe only mentioned twice, and alternative descriptors like vulnerability scanning might be used instead of 'passive-DAST' but it still does a solid job of detailing AppSec activities, Software-Composition-Analysis (SCA), automating security work and related compliance. They do reference material/study cases that's newer than the original book release indicating this part was updated with the second edition (November 2021).

It’s not so sexy, but I’m not sure how it would be! These people put down a lot of work and it shows.

This is a must read for professionals in product development

Gene Kim , Jez Humble , Patrick Debois , John Willis and Nicole Forsgren make a brilliant writing team and have successfully updated and managed to 'improve' upon the original 2018 version of the DevOps Handbook to include important recent developments such as Covid and the resulting remote-working paradigm. Ron Butler does a great job reading and makes 'easy listening' of some relatively complex subjects. Highly recommend if you work in the tech sector.

A worthy update on the original
