I couldn't get to the end.

I hate giving a negative review, but i have to. This story was so slow to get going and by the time it did I'd lost interest so much my mind had switched off. Instead of looking forward to the next installment i was looking forward to it ending. Main character is horrid. Constantly flash backs i disliked intensely especially just when you think its going to get going. I'm afraid the thing has got me down and its beimg returned.

Interesting book

The storyline of this book I felt went on too long though the performance by the narrator was good would recommend it

Zzzz

Glad I'm not the only one that found this book interminable. Main character was just annoying, spend all her time seeming to wish she'd spent more time with her dad while he was alive then wasn't even going to go to his funeral? I carried on to the bitter end, there were no surprises other than how much she managed to pad it out. I have been left with a wonderful feeling of lightness every time I open my audible app and realise I can now listen to something else.

Great start to a series

I first read this book several years ago and enjoyed it, and having just purchased the other books in the series I decided to revisit by listening to the Audible version.

First of all I have to say I didn't really like the narration. There seemed to be too many unnecessary long pauses. Even though I increased the speed to 1.25 the pauses were still there!

As for the book itself, once again I did enjoy it. The premise of a deceased policeman's daughter working to solve the case which was his obsession during his life is an interesting one. I remembered a lot of it but had also forgotten much of what happened, so some of the twists suprised me once again. I didn't really like the protagonist, Stella, but that didn't matter. The one negative about the book is that it's a bit too wordy, with long descriptions which didn't really add any value.

I am now looking forward to the other books in the series.

Brilliant!!

I had started to read this book twice before, and whilst really enjoying the story, never seemed to find the time to read as a busy Mum of 5.
My husband downloaded the audible version for me to allow me to finish it. I'm
So glad he did.
I found 'The Detective's Daughter' thoroughly enjoyable, full of twists and turns, I couldn't stop listening.
The narrator suited the story well too.

Much too long!

This really didn't need to be 18hrs long .. drawing it out so much made the story and characters totally unlikeable.
Having worked it all out but still with several hours to go, I was hoping for some really good twists to make it all worth it .. but no!
Could have been over and done with in less than half the time.

What a waste of time, effort and a credit

Hopeless writing, awful characters - who cares what happened to them, or what brand of aftershave they use, nor to I care to know that he had obviously spent a night away as the salt stains of persperation indicated two days of wear, in the way of rings on a tree shows the age......

The reading was dreary - though possibly Anna Bentinck was also bored senseless.

I CANNOT finish this book, it is one of the worst that I have come across.

Not a listen for the faint at heart

It took me three attempts to try and get into this book. Sadly, although I persevered, I found this book very hard going indeed. The plot seemed disjointed, characters a little confusing and the narration, in parts, quite strange.

I was unable to form any connection with these characters and, in parts, was at a total loss as to who was whom.
