The Apocalypse Crusade is not that book. You are not suddenly thrust into a world gone mad. Instead, you get front-row seats to how the sh-t went down. In real time you are witness to the agony and the horror…and the terrible stupidity that made it all possible.

When the end of the world arrived, it came not with a bang, as most expected, but with more of a "pfft" instead. Humanity has been torn asunder and brought to the edge of total annihilation in less than an hour. Summary
WARNING: May contain Egyptian gods, werewolves, power armor, and a world-ending apocalypse
A pyramid predating all known cultures appears without warning. Its discovery throws into question everything we know about the origins of mankind.
Inside lies incredible technology, proof of a culture far more advanced than our own. Something dark lurks within, eager to resume a war as old as mankind. When it is unleashed it heralds the end of our species’ reign.
A plague of werewolves spreads across the world. A sunspot larger than anything in recorded history begins to grow. Yet both pale in comparison to the true threat, the evil the werewolves were created to fight.
"It's like Indiana Jones went through the Stargate and ended up in Aliens versus Predator." (One of the author's totally biased friends)

SJW werewolves and tree hugging zombies
Have truly loved other Chris Fox books. Too much SJW mess, not to mention that man kind is the real plague. This one just lagged and was too preachy. Doing this review makes me a little sad. Burke did a great job as usual. p.s. His Magitech cronicals is a really awesome series. Get it.

RECAP???
I love the recap between the books and I think the rest of the books would have been awesome had they been written and read the same way. Then again I have been described as part of the group the author called heartless and a certain politician called a despicable bastard. As far as the books go, this is an awesome series and I will begin checking out more of the author’s books. I suggest other sci-fi fans do too.

Chris Fox continues to amaze
concepts we’re all used to, but with modern language and behavior, creates a brilliant experience. Fox takes advantage of modern knowledge and attitudes towards our history and beliefs, and deliverance and familiar, yet amplified experience which to the average person, it hits the spot. Additionally, Ryan Kennard Burke brings this series to life (as well in other books), and makes the effort of creating imagery and characters to life, with a huge array of voices and depths of personality. He deserves the Oscar of performance narrator/reader. Thanks a bunch, looking forward to the next book(s). ps... void wraith is also extremely good, if you breathe and have a soul I mean.

A war is coming, a big one!
I saw this box set of the Deathless and had to grab it. I had just finished enjoying book one so this was a no-brainer for me. My review for that book is here: [1] https://www.audible.com/listener/A2BO1GYVJ19JN6 [2] Volume two opens in the pyramid. There’s been a stowaway on board for eleven-thousand-years! This hitchhiker has dreamed of this moment for millennia. Dreams that if successful, will grant him a seat of enormous power, and the ability to raise an army to build a kingdom. He escapes but is pursued by Blair, Lisa, Steve, Bridget, and Jordan. The first wave of the CME blankets the earth, leaving behind a failed power grid, satellites, communications, and transportation systems while producing enormous fires. The second wave of the CME strikes several hours after the first, affecting billions of people around the globe. The second wave is foretold to produce apocalyptic results. Surprisingly, this is the very reason for which the werewolves were created to prevent. The priestess, or mythological goddess Mother, also known as Isis who woke from her cryogenic sleep in the pyramid, is the progenitor of the werewolves. The hitchhiker, known as Irakesh is a powerful Deathless. The plot thickens and gains complexity as the story unfolds. The remaining survivors on earth, the werewolves, and Mother must prepare for what is coming next. [3] Volume three picks up after the defeat and capture of Irakesh. With the defeat of Irakesh, Blair absorbed the tremendous power that Irakesh had accumulated making Blair that much more powerful. Blair, Lisa, Jordan, and Trevor feel they can now focus on the Deathless and the zombies. They make preparations not only to combat the Deathless and the zombies but also to protect the remaining human survivors of the virus. The devastating effects of the CME now come into play. The Mohn Corporation had prepared power sources and were protected from the CME so it was hardly noticed in the previous volume. The situation has changed. The escape of Steve and Irakesh will come back to bite our furry friends. Steve still has the Ark access key extorted from Blair. How Blair neglected to retrieve that key when Steve was seized is beyond me! That will turn out to be a colossal error. Trevor finds himself trapped in the Ark of the Cradle located in Egypt, and forcibly enlisted in Ra’s pantheon. To Trevor’s surprise, Irakesh and Steve are also in attendance. Doubly surprised, Ra is Irakesh’s mother. Several deities of the Egyptian Pantheon make an appearance and each plays a role; Isis and Ra aka Sekhmet of course, Osiris, Set, Sobek, Anubis, Anput, Imhotep, Horus, and Wepwawet. Vampires also enter the stage. They were left behind to prepare the world. Many of them died off as the power diminished, yet some sired progenies and passed down the legacy. They are at odds with Osiris. A growing suspicion is that Osiris is behind a power failure within the network of Arks, and has been secretly plotting the domination of the world. Is Osiris guilty? If such a scheme does exist, could it be stopped? Just one of many questions to be answered. Another rumor that Set, the criminally psychotic deity, is alive and seeking revenge. If this is true, Set has had millennia to gain skills and power and would be a formidable adversary. The plot thickens once again. [4] Volume four begins five years after the destruction of the First Ark, eliminating the southern third of England. Ra, Isis, Osiris, Anubis, Anput, and Set are presumed dead. Mark Philips, the Director of Mohn Corporation had been captured earlier by Set. Upon waking from the blast in the presence of Hades, Mark aka Set-Dun aka Nox realized he just didn’t feel like himself. LOL Blair, Lisa, Trevor, Irakesh, and Commander Jordan suffered the effects of “temporal-spatial dislocation” due to the massive explosion, waking up five years into the future. Our pack of furry friends led by Ark Lord, Ka-Dun Blair must discover where they are, who survived, who has risen to power, and what has taken place in the past five years. Isis had given the access key to her Ark to Jordan in case she didn’t survive the fight with Set. Ra aka Sekhmet gave her access key to Trevor. They were both now Ark Lords along with Blair. Jordan heads to Peru to assume ownership of the Ark where it all began, and to recruit werewolves for the coming war. Trevor and Irakesh head to South America for the same reasons. Lisa holds down the fort while Blair light-walks to the Ark of the Redwood in San Francisco. Have you heard of the fabled Lost City of El Dorado? So has Nox. People have searched in vain for centuries. What part does it play in this tale? The story branches out once again, introducing a Wendigo; “the evil spirit that devours mankind”. “According to the legends, a Wendigo is created whenever a human resorts to cannibalism to survive. Other versions of the legend cite that humans who displayed extreme greed, gluttony, and excess might also be possessed by a Wendigo.” The creature is extremely powerful and intelligent and is being used with great success to break the spirits of human survivors and werewolves alike. The CME, the virus, the resulting Deathless apocalypse, and numerous monsters and demons herald the coming of The Builders!

Fun Listen
This, and the other series I listened by him so far The Magitech Chronicles, are unique and fun with characters you cheer for and villains you love to hate. Nice pacing and definitely worth the listen.
