Summary

In The Deadline, Andy Friessen has packed up everything and moved his family two states away to Montana to protect his wife Laura, his newborn babies, and his stepson Gabriel from the threats of his mother. What Andy doesn't know is that they'll soon face a new threat, one he never saw coming.

Gabriel is sick, and a trip to the doctor confirms Laura and Andy's worst nightmare: Without a lifesaving transplant, their son won't survive.

What Andy doesn't count on, as he tracks down the young man who fathered Gabriel, as well as Laura's estranged parents, is that a whole host of problems are about to be unleashed.

If you could sum up The Deadline in three words, what would they be?

I just finished The Deadline, the first in The Friessens: A New Beginning series, and loved it . The emotional struggle was not to be frown upon. Great audiobook and goor narrator.

In her darkest hour she found her strength

Andy Friessen is a very Dominant male, that has a tendency to make his young wife Laura doubt her abilities as a wife and a mother. However they encounter a life threatening illness and through this turmoil Laura finds the backbone to stand for what is truly hers, and made her adversaries relent.
The name Deadline is a very apropos name for this story, and I’m anxious to see where the author takes it next.
Valerie Gilbert did an excellent job narrating, she gave life to the multiple characters.

The Deadline, decision between life and death.

This story portrays many emotions: love, hate, caring, betrayal, stubbornness.
On one hand, we see a person, Andy, who loves his adopted son as his own and go to any length to save him. On the other hand, we see grandmother of this boy who due to her stubbornness almost causes this boy to die. You do not have to be related by blood to love someone.

There were a lot of characters in the story and narrator did a great job by giving different a voice to every one of them. She was good in adding emotions to the voices of characters as well.

The Deadline

Most of us could only imagine having a family member try to take away our child. Of course any good hubby stands up for his wife and gets them away from a bad situation. Only to be forced into a different one. Dealing with a rude Dr., to stubborn/neglectful in laws, childish ex's and a precious little boy fighting for his life. This story is an emotional rollercoaster. Nice job on the narration!

Love this book.

This is such a sweet and tender romance. Not just about the love between a man and a woman but also the love of parents for their child, biological or not. The narrator is very good.

Deadline

We get the background on Laura and her family, the biological father of Gabriel. Andy has moved Laura and his family to Montana to get away from his toxic parents. This new beginning is not a happy one. The ranch he purchased is not what he expected and Gabriel is diagnosed with a disease that could kill him unless he gets a familial bone marrow donor. Laura and Andy now must confront her past. This story is so heartbreaking.

Touching

A wonderfully, sensitive story of a family running from a scary extended family, only to find themselves in a far worse situation in their new town. You'll be glad you chose to read this book. With characters and plot that are deep and complex, the author has given you a very realistic view of a family in crisis. Excellent!

A Must Read and Listen to Book.

This was FANTASTIC. It was Intend, and what a family will do to save his child. He might not be his his biologist son, but he was a his Dad in every since of the word. I read this book so many times. But, listening to this book bring this book, ALIVE. It, makes this Family more real. I Love this Family and this SERIES. I Love to Read and Listen to this book. And you will not be disappointed. A Must Read and Listening to this book.
