Summary

As the flames of war threaten to engulf the globe, a new threat emerges. A deadly flu, the like of which no one has ever seen or imagined, relentlessly spreads, gripping the world by the throat and slowly squeezing the life from humanity. Eight soldiers, accustomed to operating below the radar, carrying out the dirty work of a modern democracy, become trapped within the carnage of a new and terrifying world. Deniable and completely expendable. That is how their government considers them, and as the dead begin to walk, Stan and his men must fight to survive.

Really great story

I have really enjoyed this story - fab writing

I liked the camaraderie between the team - the action in several places and many character stories to get swept along with.

Its a great zombie book, and at first I thought it was US based because of the narrator but soon realised it was UK - this was the one downfall - the narrator is good, but for a British based story a narrator with a better collection of English accents or a British narrator would be better, especially as I assume Taffy is Welsh and yet he spoke perfect American!

This is not going to put me off listening to the next three books but is was why my star dropped in the overall score

Great

Genuinely one of my favourite zombie books, listened to this series at least 6 times. Now my 7th.
Some parts CAN be unbelievable and there are other parts I wish for more attention but overall a genuinely amazing series along with a fantastic narrator who does well to distinguish between characters, so much so Andrew B. Has become one of my favourite narrators. He really does this series and the characters justice.
I appreciate the slow build up at first to the zombie outbreak, really interesting to explore.

Shame about the very poor regional accents

What did you like best about The Dead Walk the Earth, Volume 1? What did you like least?

Its about Zombies

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Concept of people Isolated.

How could the performance have been better?

Narrator attempts regional accents that he can not do.They seem to be speeded up in some cases. Just stick to naming charicters without the accents.

Gripping story

Great story, with loads of threads weaving in and out.
For me though it was let down by the narrator, which is a shame. Got to be some of the worst English accents I've ever heard.
Sorry to put a downer in it. But you get past that and your be happy with the writhing ...

it was alright...but only alright

What did you like best about The Dead Walk the Earth, Volume 1? What did you like least?

If Luke Duffy says 'their fingers silently depressed their triggers to the first position' once he said it a thousand times!!

Would you be willing to try another book from Luke Duffy? Why or why not?

I'm afraid not.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I don't know where to begin! his accents were laugh out loud funny - the worst accents I have ever EVER heard - seriously hilarious!!

The Undead in the UK

A good start to the series and paves the way for next few books. A group of elite soldiers are part of the fight against the zombie apocalypse in the UK. Great book just not sure why they have an American narrator.

Gruesomely entertaining

I really enjoyed this book, it was highly entertaining in a gruesome way, action packed with likeable characters that just made me want to keep reading. I definately want to read the next book, and can't wait to start. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
