Summary
The celebrated story of how Marshall Mathers went from school and low-paid jobs in his native Detroit to global superstardom, rehab and comeback. Nick Hasted’s revealing account also looks back at Eminem's most important relationships -with his mother, his teenage soul-mate Kim Scott, producer Dr. Dre and The Bass Brothers who guided and inspired him from the age of fourteen.

Take with a pinch of salt
I found this book entertaining, however, luckily for me I have been an Eminem fan for over 20 years and already know a lot of details regarding his career and life.
This book is filled with factual inaccuracies. From his daughter's date of birth to the names of people mentioned. Also many of the stories' details are different to what Eminem has said himself during interviews.
So, give it a listen but don't take all of it as gospel. Just treat it like a fiction book if you need to but it is an entertaining book.

Amazing listen!
Such an amazing listen and insight in to Marshalls life until 2010… I’m quite a fan already but there was still areas I didn’t know about. Really interesting to listen to, just wish it continued until today with the same narrator… spoken perfectly!

Great Eminem Account
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audiobook about the genius that is Eminem. It starts off slow telling you about the early days of Detroit but it eventually gets going and when it does…wow what a story. You feel so sorry for the little blonde haired kid getting bullied all the time but if he never had all that done to him would we have had the lyrics and songs we have grown up listening too ? I’m glad he made it big through sheer determination and skill. His use of his alter ego “ Slim Shady “ really blew his career up and people took him seriously then. Highly recommend if you want to know about, in my opinion the greatest Rap God ever !

En-n-me
Much of the story comes from television and magazine interviews. It's a good starting source for anyone interested in learning about what others have written about Eminem and not necessarily Marshall Mathews.

A deeper informative look into the life of the entertainer many have grown to love.
As a fan that has followed Eminem for a long time I got to learn about sides of the artist I hadn’t heard anywhere else , the man behind the mask & the many struggles he went to get to where he is at. A inspiration to all artist musicians & everyday people alike.

It’s not just about Em
Marshall is trying to tell the world to stand up for what you believe in! Shit will get thrown in your face and you will lose some close people that you love and will even be in a relationship that is very toxic but learn from it and grow and mature. Life is a game, a test, to see if you had everything you ever wanted, would you use it for greatness or for complete destruction… we all have our own paths and choices that we each are blessed with, make the most out of whatever it is, no matter how dark or grim things may seem but whatever you do!!! DO NOT GIVE UP!!! God works in mysterious ways so he will push you, inspire you, shame you, cripple you, knock you on your ass and then lift you up! And you start to realize that everything happens for a reason! GodPlanHeDoesntMakeMistakes! Sincerely yours, Marcus Mathers Leone
