Summary

The Daring Heart is a best romance IPPY Bronze Medal-winning novel!

(Scotland, 1482) To the scandalous Lord Julian Gray, marriage is a malady and nothing more.

How can a man even court a lass longer than a fortnight when there are so many pouting lips to kiss? Roaming the courts of Europe, Julian appears to spend his time drinking wine, wagering gold, and dandling willing lasses upon his knee. But no one knows the man behind the mask. No one knows that he is Le Marin - Europe's most daring and brazen spy.

But everything changes the night he finds a dagger pressed against his ribs and an alluring hazel-eyed minx in his bed.

Born into the Vindictam, the renowned Venetian family of assassins, Liselle dreams of the day she will be allowed to practice the family craft. And when she is sent to the Scottish court, her dream is finally realized. But is it an honor... or a curse?

As the threat of civil war looms over Scotland, and the king's own brother conspires with the English to put himself on the Scottish throne, Julian can't help but be distracted by the mysterious Venetian beauty and her many secrets. But will it be his undoing?

what do I think?

humm... this was a disappointment i was bored within the hour but continued just to see if it improved. it seemed to me that the romance was secondary and that history was the subject. now I love history but if I'd have wanted that then I would have chosen it. the characters are weak , the story too busy or maybe it was the narrator who didn't bring strength and passion to them. I must say I didn't like her narration of the previous book but I enjoyed the story line of book 2 in the series. I'm put off from continuing the series by both and will be returning this book for a credit. as for this being a highlander story it is totally misleading. the only time to do with the highlands is the mention of his home and at the very end of the book and of course the historical aspects. the characters spent little or no time in the highlands. as for the front cover that needs to be changed to represent court in this period because that is were this story line is based.

there are much better authors of highland romance stories and I will be returning either to them or seeking others to fulfil my preference.
