Summary

Ashcombe was the most beautiful house Saskia had ever seen as a little girl, providing a perfect sanctuary to hide from the tragedy which shattered her childhood. Now an adult, Saskia is still living at Ashcombe and, as a book restorer, devotes her days tending to broken, battered books. When she discovers a notebook carefully concealed in an old Bible, Saskia finds herself drawn into a heart-rending tale of wartime love....

great storyline

thoroughly enjoyed this book , very well narrated. storyline had some tragic incidents within it which was sad but added to the overall direction the story was heading. there was something unrealistic about the ending in my opinion

As ever a wonderful story

Erica James has written yet another wonderful story and done so in a way that it can at times be easy to relate to the characters and their somewhat complex emotions. The links between the present and the past were well written and made the story all the more enjoyable.
The narration has been done well and made it easy and enjoyable to listen to.

Captivating

I loved everything about this book, the characters and their stories.
It kept me awake at night as I didn't want to turn it off, just one more chapter etc etc.
My first Erica James read, but won't be the last.

I really enjoyed this book. It was written well and narrated well...
I like the fact that the sex that when on I'm the book it was referred to but it didn't go into details but very reader knew what was going on , I think that makes a nice change in books today ??

Dandelion years

I found it so engaging how the two stories, so wide apart in years, held my attention coming together to a good ending
