Summary
She’s a witch with no powers. He’s a shape-shifting vampire. Trusting him could save her...or cost her everything.
Brielle Gerrick can’t access her magic. In an effort to awaken her powers, she gets sucked into a time portal - to a castle in Spain in the year 1735.
The castle is attacked by demons. Their leader is a shape-shifting vampire named Leo Serrano, an arrogant creep who enjoys taunting Brielle.
When Brielle’s dark powers awaken, the others in the castle turn on her. They try to capture her and uncover the source of her magic before it unleashes itself.
Desperate to escape, Brielle must put her trust in Leo and his coven of vampires. She'll do anything to master her powers and get back home.
Even if it means surrendering herself to her enemy.

Great start to Nightcaster Chronicles
The story has all the hallmarks of R.L’s talent. Fast paced action, drama, emotional confrontations and a plethora of magical beings.
The protagonist is Brielle is a young witch whose affinity has not developed and because of that is not accepted by her parent’s covens. She is not allowed to hunt demons with the coven, so has trained herself to fight and in the absence of natural magic taught herself to create her own spells.
Her sister Angel and her parents are Desi and Oliver, are characters in the Time Caster Chronicles, but this is the only connection to the previous trilogy and you don’t have to read the Time Caster trilogy first, though I would recommend reading this trilogy too, because it’s great.
The council fear that she is a witch afflicted by Lilleth’s curse, the cursed witch cannot access her powers and unleashes a monster that decimates entire countries; and send her to an institute for impaired casters to be trained to access her powers.
She is forced through a portal that takes her, not just to Spain, but back in time to the year 1735. The school is in a castle, which belongs to Count Antonio De Silva, who with his mages is dedicated to helping his ‘guests’ to control their magic.
The Count’s other mission is to find and kill the cursed witch.
Brie makes some friends and enemies among the guests, but must hide that she has no powers from them and the Count. Obviously, that can’t last...
Then there is Leo, the leader of a Vampire coven that has been at war with the Count for decades. Will he be friend or foe to Brielle?
This audio book is narrated by Naomi Rose-Mock. I enjoyed listening to her, her Spanish seems flawless to my untrained ear and she is also very good at the giving the characters from various countries the inflections or accents from their native language.
I received this book in audio book format free from the author and am leaving this review of my own volition.

Great start to the series.
Brielle is the daughter of Desi and Oliver from The Timecaster Chronicles she doesn’t have magic . When she’s 16 the council vote and decide she has to go elsewhere they throw her through a portal where she’s taken 300 years back in time. I really enjoyed listening and was happy that Desi , Oliver and Angel from the sister series were in it and I can’t wait to see if Brielle and Leo act on the chemistry between them.
