Summary

The light fades as she runs for her life, the forest now becoming quieter around her. The only noise she hears is the sound of footsteps following her....

It’s hiking season in Black Rock Falls, and the small town in Montana is flooded with visitors. But when a hiker finds a human skull on a deserted trail in the woods that surround the town, Detective Jenna Alton is called in to investigate.

With no missing persons reported, Jenna has no leads. Then her team makes a shocking discovery - the body of another hiker, a young man, tied to a tree and riddled with bullets. Could the two murders be linked?

As more bodies are found, Jenna and her deputy David Kane know that they must venture deep into the forest to find and face the killer. But nothing can prepare them for what awaits them there....

If you love Robert Dugoni, Karin Slaughter, and Rachel Abbott you’ll love this nail-biting thriller from D.K. Hood.

Audio

Enjoyed the book. Wish I would have read instead of listening. Audio was poorly done.

This should be a TV series

As usual D.K. Hood delivers a face paced edge of your seat thriller. This story had me wide awake listening to the audio all night. This author has an incredible imagination, fresh ideas and a style of writing that takes you right into the story. It's like watching a movie. Why isn't this author in bookstores? She is better than ANYONE I've read before and I read every bestselling crime author.
Keep writing D.K. I can't wait for more David Kane and Jenna Alton.

Another Great Addition!

This was a really great book! It's the first one in the series so far that had that "twist" I didn't see coming. I actually didn't figure out the "who done it" until it was revealed! After reading hundreds upon hundreds of mysteries, that's a rarity. I highly recommend this title along with the whole series.

This series keeps getting better!

Each book in the series seems to get better. Another psychopath is on the loose in Black Rock Falls...this time targeting vacationing couples. Can Sheriff Jenna Alton and her team catch him or is this one too smart for them?
You can’t be bored with these books...they’re fast paced and action packed. The subtle chemistry between Jenna and Dave leaves you wanting more.
I really enjoy this narrator for this series...just right for the characters. Definitely a must read-listen.

Creepy bad guy

Bad guy is a sociopath and because many chapters are from his point of view, the book has some creepy nasty sections I’d rather not read. I like the detectives and community and problem solving parts of the book.
