Story
During a train trip from Chicago to Texas in the late 1940's, A.W. Tozer began to write The Pursuit of God. He wrote all night, the words coming to him as fast as he could put them down. When the train pulled into McAllen, the rough draft was done. Although written in such a remarkably short period of time, the depth, clarity and completeness of Tozer's message has made The Pursuit of God an enduring favorite.

Prayer combines the best of Tozer on prayer into one volume. Tozer was captured by the great wonder of God, and he regarded prayer as the primary means of coming into his presence. But if our everyday life is filled with the barrenness of busyness and there is no serious urgency to pray, we forfeit the wonder of being conformed to the image of Christ and knowing our God more intimately - the true Christian life.

It is such a private, intimate place that no one can intrude but Christ, and even he will enter only through an invitation of faith. Once the Spirit enters the core of the believer's heart and establishes residence there, man becomes a true child of God. But baptism, confirmation, receiving the sacraments, church membership, etc., mean nothing unless God has truly inhabited the soul.

Summary
What does it mean to be "crucified with Christ"? During his lifetime, renowned teacher A. W. Tozer was often invited to speak at seminaries, churches and Bible conferences on the topic of the cross and its meaning for the Christian life. Now, in this never-before-published distillation of his best teaching on the subject, you will gain a fresh understanding of the cross’s centrality to your walk of faith in Christ. The apostle Paul declared in his letter to the Galatians that he had been “crucified with Christ.” But what does this mean? Is this a claim every believer can and should make? The Crucified Life is a comprehensive examination of these questions, answered with the deep, biblical thinking for which Tozer was revered. “God is ingenious in developing crosses for His followers,” Tozer was fond of saying. At the heart of this audiobook, you will find a call to follow Christ to the cross and be raised to new life—a call to live the crucified life. Includes authentic audio clips of A.W. Tozer speaking after each chapter.

The Wonderful Thing About Tozer...
is that, like Bonhoeffer, he took what he did very seriously and wrote passionately about the Christian life, not as a "presto-chango-once-saved-always-saved-say-the-magic-words-and-win-heaven" affair, but rather as an ongoing struggle toward goodness and rightness and justice--in short, a living of life in such a fashion that goodness was wrought in the physical world, in which the self and ego were sacrificed for simplicity and charity toward all people, in which others were thought of before oneself, and God, eternal rightness and goodness, above all. It is a message that forever needs to be heard and heeded if the true Christian life is to live on at all.

Authentic Biblical teaching
What did you love best about The Crucified Life?
Tozer is worth his weight in gold because he follows the Bible accurately. This book coaches Christians on obtaining a deeper Christianity, and explains how to achieve the real Christian life. In my opinion, "The Crucified Life" is of value not only for beginners, but also for intermediate Christians who are not progressing, or are off-track. It is also of value for Church leaders to use to re-evaluate what is important.
Have you listened to any of Tim Lundeen and A. W. Tozer ???s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is my first listen to Tozer and Lundeen. The narrator is very good. This audio book is easy to follow and understand.
Any additional comments?
I highly recommend "The Crucified Life". I also recommend the Puritans (such as Paul Bunyan, John Flavel, Jonathan Edwards, John Owen, Thomas Watson, and William Gurnall), D.L. Moody, Charles Spurgeon, E.M. Bounds, Andrew Murray, Jim Cymbala, and Henry Blackaby. The writings of the Christian Saints are also valuable.

A must read for any serious Christian
Would you listen to The Crucified Life again? Why?
I have listened to about 24 audio books in the past year and this is by far the best of all of them. Very well done and a series of powerful points that will humble any Christian. You need to be free of all distractions and willing to listen to what is being said without becoming defensive as you listen. All Christians should want to read this book. I have listened to the book twice and plan do listen again and again and again until I really get all of the points.

Great Teaching!
This books is great! Provokes one to think beyond complacency and to further seeking to know God. The only challenge is the clips of Tozer at the end of each chapter. The quality of the audio book is good but the quality of those clips is not good and they can't be understood. It almost becomes distracting at the end of each chapter. Otherwise it's great! I love Tozer!
