Summary

The perfect escape....

Gabrielle Adams has it all - brains, beauty, a handsome fiancé and a dream job in publishing.

Until, one day, everything changes.

The ‘Underground Killer’ takes his victims when they least expect it: standing on the edge of a busy Tube platform, as they wait for a train to arrive through the murky underground tunnels of London.

Gabrielle soon learns that being a survivor is harder than being a victim, and she struggles to return to her old life. Desperate to break free from endless nightmares, she snatches up an opportunity to run a tiny bookshop in a picturesque cove in rural Cornwall.

She thinks she’s found the perfect escape, but has she swapped one nightmare for another?

Suspense and mystery are peppered with romance and humour in this fast-paced thriller, set amidst the spectacular Cornish landscape.

Easy On the Ear

A typical cosy crime book. Easy to listen to, no blood or violence. story a bit disappointing. But all in all not bad. This one was free. Not sure as I would use a credit up on another though..

Nothing noteable

Probably ok/good if you're a fan of who-did-it novels. Wasn't bad, I listened to it all, but didn't mind if I missed bits either. Formulaic story telling didn't really hold me. Easy listening.

Not what I’ve come to expect from Mr Ross

It was ok. Certainly not his best but it was a pleasant listen. At 5 hours I was glad it was a freebie.

Romantic Mystery

Gabriela had it all but some people have bad luck and life just spirals out of control which in her case leaves her on anxiety pills and OCD. She finds an ad for a manager of a book shop come tea/coffee and gets the job complete with accommodation. She gets on well with the owner and a very small community in the Cove and as the tide comes in only one way to get in and out of the area. Gabby loves the job gets on with all the locals and a budding romance is in the air until she sees a murder on The Point at high tide and the weather very bad, did she really see it? as her, mental health is a bit to be desired at the moment as she's had a couple of funny turns but at least she has come clean with Mel the owner and Luke as she explains why she needed a complete turnaround of job and location. No spoilers but this is a lovely little story well presented and that little twist at the end, also not overly long just over 5hrs, the narration by Clare Corbett is very very clear not a muffle was heard

A good listen

Really enjoyed the narration story did not quests who was the culprit and happy that there was a good ending. I’ve been to the Cove near the Lizard so could imagine it.

Compelling intriguing murder mystery adventure

Another brilliant book, compelling and intriguing short story so many twists, I had decided incompletely the wrong person but that is what a mystery is all about, hope there will be more like this, great narratio.

Loved this short story. Not like other titles from this author

Enjoyable book without being gripping. More of a tale about someone who, because of an event, changed her life in a big way, with consequences to follow. Worth a listen and is a relatively short story.

Murder in Cornwall

A bit slow to start but developed into a thriller well up to L.J. Ross’s stories.

Disappointed

Predictable story to a large part, too twee and soppy for me. Some of the accents narrated were poor
