I do like bad guys so dirty politics, mobsters and other questionable characters are right up my alley, which is why I kept listening.
The narration was pretty good and kept me listening.

Our heroine is a law student assigned to a distracted, fearful mentor, but attracted to the other defence lawyer, who is more active and competent. Her tenacity and care for the client and his family wins through in exposing the machinations of those who should know and do better. The difficulty of bringing proof to court despite having worked out the conspiracy also provides peril for our sympathetic characters. There is even redemption for the distracted mentor. There is a twist in who is the co-operating witness and their fate. To few clues to the twist and some of the unlikeliness of even this star student doing all described stopped me giving full marks, but a satisfying and engaging story remains.
The narrator does a good job generally, but some word and emphasising unexpected phrases interrupted my immersion in the story.

The Cooperating Witness is fast paced and the drip feeding of information keeps you listening to find out what will happen next. It has a few twists and an ending I never would have guessed. The author has an excellent writing style with engaging characters and intricate scene setting.
The narrators for this book were a good fit and brought the characters to life. They helped me immerse myself in mob life and the stresses of being part of the American legal system.
