A splendid and sumptuous historical novel from the internationally bestselling author, Philippa Gregory, telling of the early life of Katherine of Aragon.

I was born a princess, destined to be queen, and I know my duty.

1491. Henry VII’s eldest son Arthur Tudor, Prince of Wales, has been betrothed since childhood to the Spanish princess Katherine of Aragon. Their marriage will cement the alliance Henry Tudor craves to secure his country.

But when Arthur’s sudden death leaves an 11-year-old boy heir to the kingdom, Henry Tudor must choose whether to send Katherine back to Spain, or to marry her himself. Katherine has no son from her brief marriage to secure her future; her substantial dowry and his powerful contract are at stake.

Henry has reckoned without the determination of a young woman set on fulfilling her own destiny to be a queen – and the ambition of Prince Harry, the future Henry VIII.

Eleştirmen yorumları

‘One of Gregory's great strengths as a novelist is her ability to take familiar historical figures and flesh them into living breathing human beings. The Constant Princess is a worthy successor to her previous novels about the Tudors’ Daily Express
‘Gregory's research is impeccable which makes her imaginative fiction all the more convincing’ Daily Mail
‘Gregory is great at conjuring a Tudor film-set of gorgeous gowns and golden-lattered dining. She invokes some swoonsome images…while the politics are personal enough to remain pertinent’ DailyTelegraph

A wonderful performance with a beautiful narrative that looks at the beauty and grace of the young Spanish Princess of Wales and her long road through two marriages, many highs and lows and the stability she helped bring to the early Tudor court of Henry VIII

An enthralling account of the early years of Catherine of Aragon. Not the ageing and unwanted Queen sue planted by Anne Boleyn, but Catalina, the Warrior Princess with a will of steel.

A brave gutsy woman

Truly refreshing perspective on the quintessential wronged wife.

Well worth a listen challenging the view of fat Harry from the beginning.

I have really enjoyed this book it’s well written, interesting at times you feel that you are actually there. I have read this novel more than once each time I do I learn a little bit more about Catherine of Aragon and the hard life she had once she became a widow when Prince Arthur died. King Henry was a loving husband in the beginning but that changed & he became a jealous tyrant as the years passed blaming Queen Catherine for not giving him a son, he had many affairs & the Queen was supposed to look the other way Queen Catherine was a loving loyal wife & did all she could do to give him the son he wanted suffering a son who was still a baby when he died, she also had miscarriages & a daughter Mary who one day became Queen. Henry left her for Anne Boleyn she gave him a daughter Henry & Anne made Catherine’s life unbearable with their taunts, making her live in a cold, damp, isolated environment not many ladies in waiting not letting her see her daughter Mary I recommend this book
