When I loaded this book, I thought since it's going to be a long one! But to my surprise, I was so taken in, the time flew by, and I couldn't get enough. This story starts with Elisabeth and Roman with their journey to parenthood with infertility. Even divorced, this couple has intrinsic chemistry and with the revelation that their eggs may have been mixed up with someone else's, they go to track down their possible child. Claire is married to a monster, but she survives every day to keep her daughter, Tessa, safe. With Heath by her side, she is protected, but will it be enough? Martinez has woven the lives of these two couples together, uncovering the hardest of truths, and sacrificing as only a parent's love can. It's full of emotion, fear, devastation and love. The secrets and lies that are unveiled are heart wrenching, but the outcome is beautiful. Once you start this, you will not put it down, it is that good.

With the several points of view, Martinez masterfully put together an incredible team to narrate Claire and Elisabeth's story. Andi Arndt and Maxine Mitchell are seasoned narrators and easily pull you into the world of the characters. I love the way their voices can pull me in and keep me on the edge of my seat to find out what is happening next. Jason Carpenter gives voice to the men, and gave us the protectiveness and love needed to get through the emotional story. This team brought the story into my heart and left it there!

I loved this duet, it was so much more than I expected from the blurb.  I expected some emotion and a potential second chance love story, which I got in spades, but there was so much more. 

Heartbreak, healing, passion, suspense, intrigue, danger and a connection between two couples that none of them could have predicted at the start.  Two heartbroken soulmates who should never have been separated, but sometimes situations are too hard and dealing with and the loss of their child broke both Roman and Elisabeth.  I loved their re-connection even under such awful circumstances.  They had incredible chemistry even amongst their pain and anger.  Roman seemed so closed off at the start but it soon became clear all his decisions, even the misguided ones had all been for Elisabeth's happiness.  Two wonderful characters.  Then there was Claire, she had such strength but so much vulnerability and was trapped in an almost impossible situation.  Protecting her daughter was her reason for living, my heart broke for her particularly.

This book was so well written with depth and feeling.  I listened to the audio version and it was told from three persons pov and all three narrators were excellent.

There were twists, turns, unexpected revelations and a caring, protective, sexy, hot DEA agent determined to save the ones he loves.  It had dark moments and possible triggers for some, it was not an easy ride for either couple as more and more was revealed about the devastating after affects from the ivf clinic, but I devoured it!

So sensitively written for such a difficult storyline. It was full of all the emotions. I couldn’t stop listening to it and was so glad that this was the complete story. I don’t think I could have waited if I had been left hanging.

The duet works really well in audio, its dual‑style narration with multiple narrators. The performances add extra emotion and tension, making the suspense hit harder and the character moments feel more grounded. Even though I preferred the first book overall, the production is consistently strong and makes the entire duet an engaging listen.

This story is heartbreaking and beautiful all wrapped up. This author has the ability to drag you in and makes you run the full gamut of emotions before spitting you out at the end feeling used up, washed out and oh so ready to go through it all again.
