Excellent in every way except the end is missing!
It troubled me that the last story "The Adventure of the Retired Colourman" ended rather abruptly, Holmes still seems to be giving his explanation and there isn't the typical Holmes / Watson reflection at the end. I dug out the novel and there is about half a page missing! It's not just my download because the "Audible hopes you've enjoyed this programme" is still at the end of the recording.
This really isn't acceptable, the idea that you could listen to almost a whole novel and then be denied the ending isn't what you expect from Audible. When Audible resolve this issue I will give this audiobook the 5 stars the stories and narration deserve.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I'd recommend to a friend, definitely! It was a fantastic listen, the stories lived up to all I had heard on the books. It was quite easy to dip in and out of too with the short stories so it was pretty accessible which was handy.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes?
I would have to say my most memorable moment was the monkey man.. you'll understand when you get there!
Which character – as performed by Derek Jacobi – was your favourite?
Watson

The casebook of Sherlock Homes
Beautifully read by David Jacobi who brings each case vibrantly alive. A wonderful mixture of bedtime (in my case!) short stories, each one totally different.

Acceptable for it’s time … rather perpetuation of prejudices !?!
I’ve trawled through Sherlock Holmes both long and short stories fairly regularly over a lifetime. Conan Doyle is imaginative and amusing and aspects of Derek Jacobi’s characterisations in this rendition are indeed good. Nevertheless, years on, I notice the negative tropes that perpetuate bigotry … Sam, the “negro” whom Holmes says smells, in The Adventure of the Three Gables and a lead protagonist of Shoscombe Old Place is “deeply in the hands of the Jews”.
Perhaps not unusual references for the time but they cannot be ignored and need to be called out.

You know Sherlock Holmes. You've seen adaptations on TV, you know his stories. But, listening/reading the books is just wonderful. By reading, you gain a deeper understanding of Holmes, of Watson, of Victorian England and Derek Jacobi is an amazing narrator. He is perfect for the job. So even though you may be familiar with the stories, have a listen and instead of being preoccupied with 'who done it' (cos you probably know already), enjoy the journey and allow Holmes to lead you there in his own unique way.

Some very dodgy stereotypes..
especially the ‘negro’ in his bad taste clothes who isn’t invited to stay because he ‘smells’, and uncomfortable references to Jews. When they were written these things were probably acceptable but maybe need weeding out today? Otherwise the stories are quite diverting if far fetched.
