A Cologne detective asks Jan Fabel for his help in tracking down the Carnival Cannibal, a terrifying serial killer who kills at the start of the world-famous annual Carnival. Unknown to anyone, Fabel's deputy, Maria Klee, also heads for Cologne to hunt down a different, even more dangerous killer - one with whom she has a score to settle.

Taras Buslenko, a Ukrainian special-forces commander, prepares his undercover unit for a "black" operation into Cologne. Their aim: to end the rule of an ex-pat Ukrainian crime-boss. Three paths converging on Cologne at Carnival at a time when the world is traditionally turned on its head. Fabel once more faces his greatest enemy: the true Master of the Carnival.

Another good one from the always reliable Craig Russell. My only slight concern. If this is the first Jan Faben. Then you need to start at the first, I think you would find the back story hard to understand.

Another well researched book.

Villains to loath, mendacity, Humour, pathos, lust, murderous-perversions, compassion, madness…What more could one want from a novel?

Fabel’s Fables.

Once again Craig Russell does not fail to dissapoint. Following on from Blood Eagle it was good to get involved in previous story lines with the addition of a new case. Fast and Pacey.

As usual Sean Barrats Naration second to none.

FABULOUS

The Jan Fabel series continues as good as ever. Great writing and story from Craig Russell and fabulous narration from Sean Barrett.

Great story

Craig Russell writes really well for audio and I already have a few of his audio books in my library; he creates tension and I enjoyed the complexity of this story. His description of the differences between Hamburg and Cologne guided the reader to a greater understanding of these cities especially the Womens Night at the Carnivale!
Of course Sean Barrett creates such an atmosphere and his interpretation of the text is magnificent. In fact I now look at the reader first as so many are dreadful. Well done Sean.
