Summary

From Amazon best-selling author Dakota Willink, comes the complete Cadence duet, a second-chance romance that will leave you breathless!

One love. One destiny. But it only takes one person to bring the house of cards tumbling down.

Seventeen years ago, Fitz Quinn stole the heart of Cadence Riley. He took her innocence, then left her broken. When a twist of fate brings them back together again, she quickly learns even time couldn’t dim their chemistry. Fitz was sexier than ever - successful and provocative. He became the man she always knew he would be, and the heat between them quickly became unbearable. Despite the promise she made to herself, she felt the walls to her heart start to crumble and began to fall all over again.

However, things aren’t the same as they once were. Cadence is the driving force behind a non-profit organization where she handles each case with the determination of a shark. Fitz is known as Washington’s fixer. He is the CEO for a public relations firm - one that represents the politicians who fight against everything Cadence stands for. What do they say about opposites attract?

Finding themselves at a crossroads, Fitz needs to decide if going against his father is worth pursuing a second chance with Cadence. One wrong move...and his reputation could be obliterated. For Cadence, she needs to let go of her secrets and forgive Fitz for leaving her alone all those years ago. But more importantly, she needs to decide if sacrificing her values is worth being with the only man she has ever loved.

This audiobook includes both books in the two-part story, Cadence Untouched and Cadence Defined.

Well-written and enjoyable

This is not just a well-written duet; it's an enjoyable listen as well. It does, however, discuss some political issues so it might not be as enjoyable for some.

Zachary Webber and Lacy Laurel did great as Cadence and Fitz.

The Cadence Duet is a political, secret baby, second-chance romance written in dual first-person POV. It's a duet that ends with an HEA and deals with sensitive subjects some may find triggering.

I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Inspiring Young Adult love

I don't usually read YA, but this blurb caught my attention. I rolled my eyes a few times because both MCs were really immature, but I have to judge the book by it's premise and for an YA, it was very very good. I liked the chemistry they had, the push and pull and they were so sweet together, opposites in every way. It was a inspiring and beautiful listen.

I love Zachary Webber so it's no news that I love his narration. Lacy Laurel did a great job too, I'm not keen of female narrators because they always sound whining, but her voice is pleasant and her pace is good.

Great duet, well rounded but very political

I really enjoyed this duet. The duet spans 17 years and we first meet Cadence and Fitz when he has to do community service for a really bad situation (which I didn't actually think was his fault). Anyway, they meet at Cadence's parents' camp and they fall in love. For Fitz, it was instant, for Cadence,it took a little while. In the first book, we find out that this bad situation has made it so they couldn't be together.

17 years later, they see each other again. This time, Cadence has a really big secret and there are people who are against them coming together again. I loved how Fitz overcame her defenses and I really loved both characters as well as their friends. There was romance, a bit of action and heart-moments and a few tears because they suffered so much. So, I give this book 4.5 because I did think that Cadence took too long to reveal her secret but overall, I really liked how it played out. Be forewarned, DACA is discussed a lot and the author made this book quite political. It was well done (and I learned a bit) but if that is off putting, it's something to consider.

I have the ebook but also listened to the narration. I love Zachary Webber and he did not disappoint here either. Great ability to play multiple characters and play up the emotion of the words. Lacy Laurel also did really well and Zachary and Lacy were a great team that elevated the story. I really enjoyed the narration.

Political, Second Chance Romance

This is both books of a duet in one audiobook. I love that they did this for us listeners. The books are well written with a mostly good storyline. I couldn't quit listening because I really wanted to know how the romance played out. Seeing two people fall in love and then get a second chance is a favorite storyline of mine.

It would have been a 5 star rating because of the excellent writing. But how a book makes one feel is as much a part of the overall experience as the actual writing.

The first book had cheating which is a trigger of mine. I can't explain without giving the story away, so I must stop there. In the second book, the way the writer vilified the Republican party (I took it being as a whole) was offensive and I almost quit the book. All sides of politics has major issues. Always has, always will. There are greedy men and women everywhere and no particular party is right in every way. I have read other authors who were able to write about their stance on issues in a thought provoking way, using the political world even, and make an impact for their beliefs.

If those two issues don't bother you, you'll love the book.

Zachary Webber and Lacy Laurel are great narrators. They are easy to listen to and really perform well. Lacy has such a unique voice. I was pleasantly surprised to hear her voice again and I know I will be recognizing her name for now on...even looking for more of her work. She ended the first book with so much passion and emotion that it won't be a performance I'll ever forget.

Second Chance Duet

Cadence Untouched

This was my first book by the author and I went in blind and was pleasantly surprised. I was instantly hooked into the story of Cadence and Fitz as their relationship grew and strengthened. I was definitely intrigued as to what big secret Fitz was harboring. Book one does end with Cadence and Fitz going their separate ways after Fitz reveals what that big secret is, and he breaks Cadence's heart, and it ends with some other pretty large jaw-dropping cliff hanger goodies to get you excited for what may be in store for book two. I myself cannot wait to dive into book two to see if Cadence and Fitz can find their way back to each other. I really enjoyed the author's writing style and look forward to book two and more from this author in general.

Cadence Defined

I was excited to dive into book two of the duet to see where the story of Cadence and Fitz was going to lead after the secrecy around Fitz, and Cadence's surprise at the end of book one. I was really intrigued to find that book two starts so far in the future as I don't think I have read a lot of duets where that has happened before and given the way book one ended, I was really surprised to find that was the case... but definitely intrigued. These books were my first introduction to this author and overall I did really enjoy her her writing style and I did really enjoy Fitz and Cadence as characters.

I tend to shy away from politics in general and read as an escape, so I could have done without that aspect of the story, but otherwise I enjoyed the overall story line and was happy to see that Cadence and Fitz were able to overcome time and distance and his father's manipulations to find their way back to each other and have a HEA. They sure had some great chemistry and I so enjoy a second chance love story.

I love love love Zachary Webber as a narrator. He has a smooth very pleasant voice to listen to. He does a great job altering his voice at times to convey the necessary emotions of the story line so the listener can feel all the emotions of the story. I also think Lacy Laurel did a really good job as Cadence and would like to isten to more of her work in the future. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

Oh My..

Wonderful!! So many twists and turns! I found my self hollaring at the characters! Trying to tell them what they needed to do! Dakota did an absolutely wonderful job with the story. I could not get my head out of the story to go to bed. And Zachary and Lacy did a great job with the narrations. Before it was done, I felt like I really knew these "people"! I can't wait to see what else Dakota has written! A MUST listen!

This was ok story. Didn’t feel there was romance or chemistry between H and h. h was a very weak character and H was no better. No tension or explanation after first meeting after seventeen years. Sad bc writing was good but not story.

Stay away if you’re tired of hearing Republicans Are evil

I should’ve known better. In the description Son of a politician, However I wanted to get this author the benefit of the doubt. To keep it neutral and not name a political party RNC or DNC. To say I’m beyond disappointing would be an understatement. Typical narrowminded liberal, All Republicans are evil and all Democrats are gods gift to the world.

Only good thing about this audio was Zachary weather

5 Stars is Not Enough for This AMAZING book!!!

Where do I even begin? This story...is one of the best stories I have listened to in a long time. Dakota Willink brings us on a journey with all the emotional highs and lows, the sexy steam, and the ugly truth of life through out the relationship beween Cadence and Fitz. The first half was like reliving my teenage years in the 90's and oh how I loved that! From the song references to how Cadence felt with Fitz at 17 years old. ALL THE FEELS! Then fast forward to years later and to witness each character's growth along with their inner struggles...a masterpiece of pure perfection. Now on to the narration. As an audiobook narrator myself, I appreciate and applaud the beautiful, heartfelt, soul rendering performance of the talented Lacy Laurel and Zachary Webber. They are the voices of Cadence and Fitz and they brought this story to life in an amazing and effortless way. They both receive an Audie Award from my heart to theirs from their stellar performance. I definitely have a book hangover now and I so badly want this story to continue because I am that invested in these characters. To top it all off, Dakota Willink has my highest respect for what she has done in real life with The Dahlia Project. Those issues and concerns are very close to my heart as well. If you are reading this review, don't wait another minute and buy this book today! I received this book free in exchange for my written review. #audiobookobsession

Emotional love story

I want to thank the author for giving both books of this diet into one audiobook. I don't have to remember which book comes first and can find it quickly in my library. Dakota Willink has written an emotional second chance love story that took 17 years to come to pass. We see how the years of maturity have changed the characters of Cadence and Fitz. Ms Willink's plot and character development will have you experiencing young and then mature love. I fell in love with these characters from the beginning. They will tug at so many of your emotions. Both will keeps secrets from each other that can destroy their relationship. Each will have a great friend to help support them. However to say that Fitz's father is pure evil is putting it mildly.

The narrators did a terrific job. Zachary Webber and Lacy Laurel expertly portray the characters' emotions, and this story is an emotional rollercoaster. Their storytelling ability made this a wonderful listening experience. I highly recommend this Audible book and will enjoy listening to it again.

Too Political

One of the reasons I generally love to listen to books is to get away from politics, but the 2nd book is too political. A little bit would be fine, bit I am already tired of it. :/

Emotional Second Chance Romance

This was my first time listening to this author and I’m sooo glad I did! I love second chance romance and right from the start I was invested in Fitz and Cadence. Excellent character development, and plot twists and turns. So many emotions! I laughed, I cried and I wanted to plot murder. I also think that Willink did a great job with the political aspect of the plot. I will be re-listening to this one again in the future!

Zachary and Lacy did a wonderful job narrating! They brought Fitz and Cadence to life!

Audiobook Obsession

This was a nicely written story but not my favorite. I didn’t care for the plot direction. If the story was meant to be believable, I think it missed the mark. Taking the story as a whole, I believe it was longer than it should’ve been. It was angst-driven without much payoff in my opinion.

Zachary’s narration was terrific! I appreciate Laurel’s take but I would’ve considered a different female.
