Summary
After spending four years in a Siberian penal settlement, during which time he underwent a religious conversion, Dostoevsky developed a keen ability for deep character analysis. In The Brothers Karamazov, he explores human nature at its most loathsome and cruel but never flinches at what he finds.
The Brothers Karamazov tells the stirring tale of four brothers: the pleasure-seeking, impatient Dmitri; the brilliant and morose Ivan; the gentle, loving, and honest Alyosha; and the illegitimate Smerdyakov: shy, silent, and cruel. The four unite in the murder of one of literature's most despicable characters - their father. This was Dostoevsky's final and best work.

Beautiful classic
Perhaps I got to excited from all the rave reviews and expected much more than the book could possibly deliver. However, it's very much worth every bit of commendation given. A great story indeed.

enlightening read I was transfixed
A thoughtful reflection of the human condition in its variety of forms and expressions. the conversation between Dmitri and the devil was particularly clever and harrowing. Most enjoyable and fois for deep thought and contemplation. Captured perfectly by the narrator

Astounding narration !
Really cannot understand why Davidson gets so much hatred for his narration, he is incredible: every character sounds distinct (including the narrator), and he reads with passionate attention to detail; his sing-song victorian British accent is startling at first but you get used to it. Do not be misled by all these negative reviews.

Exquisite Narration.
What can I say that hasn’t already been said about this masterpiece.
Davidsons narration is simply gorgeous. Each character is masterfully brought to life as is the substance and tone of each book.

Absolute classic!
Incredible novel! I tried reading it in my teens but couldn’t really make much progress; however, coming back to it in my 50s, older and (hopefully) wiser I can see why it is so highly regarded. Its breadth and scope is simply staggering. The actual plot is quite straightforward: there is a murder and a defendant; there is the courtroom drama; but the real meat of the novel is in the fleshing out of the characters, the meditation on goodness, its mystical core…anyway, I am so glad I read it. The narration although perfect capable got on my nerves because of its 1950s RP. Not the narrator’s fault at all but I’m a Londoner and no one speaks like that anymore.

Difficult to listen
I wonder how did they choose this narrator. His voice is drawling and makes pauses on the wrong places.

The narrator sounds like Jacob Reece Mogg.
I am struggling to cope with this. Send help. shame because I have really enjoyed other Dostoevsky audio books so far but this guy sounds very posh and smug

Good
I enjoyed listening to this version. Some time ago I attempted to listen to another version of this book available for free on audible and got bored, but this I finished. I found the narrator suited the story, but English is not my first language and I don’t have any feelings about accents, as long as I can understand them

Strong story, vibrant characters and well narrated
Contrary to some reviews, I found the narrator to be excellent, bringing life to the characters. His plummy 1950s newsreader accent suited the period and nature of this boom.
