Summary

Jennie Grant has always wished to be a healer, but when her clan becomes involved in the violence that has broken out across the Highlands, it shakes her belief in herself. She no longer knows if she can work in a trade where life and death exist in such a fine balance. Desperate to clear her head and spend some time away from the wounded men who crowd the sickroom in the Grant keep, she travels to Lochluin Abbey for sanctuary. But even there, she cannot escape her calling. The abbey sits on the land of the Cameron clan, and when the new chieftain is injured in battle, Jennie is the only person capable of saving him.

Though Aedan Cameron would sooner spend his life as a scholar, reading, and watching the stars than assume a leadership role in his clan, his father's untimely death forces his hand. To make matters worse, he's immediately called upon to ride into battle to protect his land and his people. But everything changes for Aedan when a beautiful girl with a mind as curious as his own heals him. Suddenly, he realizes he's capable of becoming the leader his father wanted him to be while still pursuing the stars. Aedan recognizes his soul mate in Jennie, but can their love survive the mysterious threat to his land?

i wish i could love it.....

this could have been good but there were a few things i couldnt get pass.....the narration..... sure this is the same guy that did the one before this but but this time i jist couldn't get past it.... then there were a couple of things that couldnt not have been possible.... 3 days of child birth..... the baby would have been dead.... or both the mother and the baby..... and whole thing about paper... although she addressed it in the author's notes... i feel it was pretty off........ but the narration killed it for me.....

Wonderful book, wonderful audio!

What made the experience of listening to The Brightest Star in the Highlands: Jennie and Aedan the most enjoyable?

I would recommend not only this book, but the entire series to all my friends. Paul Woodson always does a magnificent job of bringing the characters to life through his ability and range to suit the voices to the characters.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I don't have just one favorite character in this series, however I can't wait to hear the audio of Loki's story.

Decent story line...

But ... the narration was horrible. The female voices were the worst. The emotions in the voices often didn’t match the words. For example a voice was filled with excitement instead of wariness. It was disconcerting. And frankly I think a better narration might have made me enjoy it more.

I did like the twists of the story. There were enough to be interesting without so many that it became eye rolling.

Fair

I have enjoyed the other Clan Grant stories except The Desperate Highlander and this one. Jennie is just too childish for me. She gets on my nerves.

Just OK

I usually enjoy KM books. However this one and My Desperate Highlander (book 6) fell short. Regarding this book, Paul Woodson is not the best narrator for me. Jennie got on my nerves. I understood her problem with Alex, but in some areas she was too unreasonable.

I am sorry, but I prefer the other narrator.

And while I love these stories, I was frustrated with how wimpy Jenni and Aedon were most of the book.
