I loved the historical timeliness with the pace of the books. also the narrator helped me give this book a 5 star review.

Fantastic Characters.

Sweeping tale beautifully told that resonates with stories told to me many years ago by my husband's Rhodesian parents. They farmed tobacco, cattle and mixed crops on their enormous farm outside Gwelo.
The only thing that jarred was Harry's accent which is decidedly Afrikaans. My mother-in-law's family were English landed gentry and she spoke with a cut glass English accent. My husband and his siblings are often thought to be 'posh' English by foreigners including those from Britain.
We all still live in Africa; it's in our blood.

I'm so glad I've downloaded more by this author. I've never read his work before, and I bit off a meaty chunk of it by listening to the whole of the trilogy without a pause. infinitely credible. with great historical detail, I was on the edge of my seat and in love with the heroes and detesting the villains and holding my breath as the clever multilayered plot twisted and turned. lovely, wonderful book.
