"A born storyteller." ( Independent on Sunday)
When it comes to writing page-turners that put a smile on your face and make you think; Keyes is in a class of her own." ( Daily Express)

Really enjoyed the storytelling, emotional story

Loved it from beginning to end, so many thoughts that go through the human mind when faced with difficulties in life.

Not her best

A bit lightweight and fluffy compared with her other books but a nice enough listen.

Terrible accents

I really struggled to finish this, the story was ok, but the Geordie accent was so painful to listen to. It was a mix of Scottish and gypsy.

Am I too old for this author now?!

I read lots of Marian Keyes in my 20’s and at that stage I wanted to meet someone desperately and sushi for beginners gave me hope. I still remember how I felt when those two characters got together and from that moment on I couldn’t get enough of her books.

Now as I reach my 40’s I’m just at a totally different place so it’s not the fault of the author (I don’t think) but I really wanted Amy to find and love herself. To realise that she is enough and it wasn’t the love of a man she needed and she could be her own hero. I still believe I’m a hopeless romantic but this story just didn’t resonate with me one bit and I found myself getting annoyed at the old fashioned portrayal of a woman needing man in order to survive.

I have loved my years of Marian Keyes but it’s time I bow out and find a new author with a more modern take on life and love.

Loved This Book

It was funny and sad at the same time and also made me reflect on my life, post divorce. I loved every minute and felt like I’d lost my new friends when it ended. Such a simple storyline but Marian brought all the characters to life and made this a masterpiece. This story sums up modern day relationships perfectly. I’ve now downloaded all her books. I’ve never considered ‘taking books’ as I prefer to read but you’d miss out on the sheer joy of Aoife McMahon’s Irish accent if you ‘just’ read the book!

Huge MK fan, a little disappointed

This story was poignant, moving, and beautifully written but so much of it was sad that it made me sad too.

Enjoyable but cannot do a Geordie accent

The narration was fine, except they could not do a male Geordie accent. This definitely detracted from the story telling. Very frustrating

Fab!

Marian Keyes' writing, combined with Aoife McMahon's narrating is like strawberries and cream, made to go together. 19 hours of audio book is a big commitment, but, as usual with Ms Keyes' writing, it flashes by and before you know it you've finished and you're saying good bye to people who have become good friends. Aoife McMahon's voice acting skills are faultless. Together, this double act is superb and sublime. Ladies, I salute you!
