About this listen

'The Branded pulls you straight into the story, snares you, and won't let you escape until you turn the last page' Patricia Gibney

During an unprecedented heatwave, the body of a young girl is found in a submerged suitcase in Loch Acorrymore on Achill Island. DS Lucy Golden is tasked with identifying her and returning her to her family. With the help of her team, they discover that the girl was a runaway, who had spent some time in a homeless shelter. She has been murdered and an investigation is launched.

Despite some promising leads, Lucy's enquiries seem to be going nowhere until another the body with connections to the homeless shelter is discovered in what initially appears to be a suicide. Lucy knows that there is no such thing as coincidence, but the race is on to find the link between the two victims before the trail goes cold.

As Lucy is drawn deeper into the case, she realises that these murders may be a whole lot more sinister than first thought. Can Lucy keep a clear emotional head and get to the truth before more girls end up dead?

This is the second book from this author and I can’t wait for the next one. The story, characters and setting are all superb … the story is fast paced with lots of twists. The depth of the characters is so well done and it gives excellent insight in to them and gives the opportunity to get to know them . I love the west of Ireland setting and the narrator really captures it . I couldn’t put it down .

Another triumph

After ditching a few books early on , which is unusual for me, I have at last found a great author , perfect narration & good story.
No need to say more really
I've read them both and can't wait for the next :)

Excellent all round

I listened to this one straight after The Night Caller. Both are very similar in that they have the same very likeable central cast, and an enjoyable story, but they don't quite make it to a 5 star level. There aren't any particularly 'edge of the seat' moments, or any gob-smacking 'I did not see that coming!' twists or turns. Still, a very pleasant way to pass the time while travelling in the car.

Great characters, enjoyable story

It isn't gripping or fast paced, it's just a story of the police trying to catch the bad guys, no action or tension. They catch them and it ends, it's nice enough but that's all?

This is a decent enough listen
