Summary

The Brain Swapping Machine

Children have such vivid and vibrant imaginations. In early childhood creativity is often linked to drawing, making, messy-play, and art. It is important to encourage our child’s creativity and The Brain Swapping Machine is a perfect audiobook for this!

Ellis and Archie are two little boys who are given a task of inventing something fantastic for a scientist that is coming into their school. They want their model to be bigger, better, and more exciting than anyone else’s. They invent a Brain Swapping Machine! But will this machine actually work?

Audiobooks are a great way to feed a child’s imagination, to nurture growth, to help them learn how to play, to expand language through imagination as well as being a fantastic way to fuel a daydreamer.

The Brain Swapping Machine is written and narrated by Ann Twigg who has three children, eight grand-children, and three great-grandchildren. Ann has the ability to hook children into her stories and bring the magic of the story to life. The inspiration for this story came while working at school when she overheard two young boys having fun talking about swapping brains with a machine.

This audiobook could also be the perfect bedtime story and will have young kids hooked within the first few minutes and wanting to listen to the story again and again.

Good listen

Nice easy listen and I find inspiring that a kid invents something the scientist couldn't.

Imaginative

We loved this audio book and the topic gave us a great talking point in our family for what would happen if our brains were swapped around. Really got my daughters imagination going. Big thumbs up for us. Would recommend. Listened at speed 1.5 as we found this a better pace.

Brain swapping fun at the school science fair!

Seven year old Ellis and Archie are best friends and each have their own unique talents, one is good at making things and one is good at coming up with brilliant ideas. It's the school science competition and between them they manage to make a brain swapping machine. Trouble starts though when the teachers insist on trying it out! A creative story which teaches children the importance of being themselves.

This embraces individuality and creativity.

As a primary school teacher myself I particularly enjoyed this imaginative story and felt that it could be shared with any primary aged class to discuss individuality and uniqueness.

It emphasises that each child has their own strengths and difficulties. Imagine the chaos in a classroom when two imaginative boys, Archie and Ellis, invent a brain swapping machine!?! But surely this couldn’t possibly work!? In the narrative world it can!

Possible conversations could be had about other possible inventions and scenarios which could follow.

A fantastic story. Well read, with a soothing tone and perfect length, pace and description.
