Summary

The debut children’s novel from David Walliams, number one best seller and fastest growing children’s author in the country. Now experience the whole story in glorious sound as David teams up with an old friend (his name begins with Matt and ends with Lucas) to deliver a hilarious and beautifully produced audiobook.

Dennis was different.

Why was he different, you ask?

Well, a small clue might be in the title of this audiobook....

Charming, surprising and hilarious - David Walliams’s beautiful first novel will touch the hearts (and funny bones) of children and adults alike.

Now David teams up with Matt Lucas to produce an audiobook with a difference. Read by two of the brightest stars in sketch comedy, this lavish production brings the hilarious voices behind Little Britain to your nearest earphones. And it tells a fantastic story too....

A lovely book, to be enjoyed by listeners of any age.

Can’t really fault this!
Classic Walliams - funny, poignant and heart-warming.
A children’s book that feels sensitive and authentic and does not patronise.
I am an adult but enjoyed sharing this with my 9 year old boys.
Enriched by on-point narration and vocal performances from David and Matt

Excellent!

Loved the story, the narration & so so many of the characters. I think Raj was a firm favourite of mine.
A fantastic way to teach/remind not only children, but fully grown up 49 year old children like myself that there are many things in life in which we shouldn't be ashamed of & that we live in a diverse world. We need to smile at one another more & be accepting of how different we all are

Very pleasantly surprised

What made the experience of listening to The Boy in the Dress the most enjoyable?

I have to say David Walliams is a great narrator and made this story very enjoyable.

Have you listened to any of David Walliams and Matt Lucas ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes it kept you listening.

Any additional comments?

This was a good book and I have just purchased David Walliams other books I am sure they will be equally as good.

Boringly fatphobic

I'm just sick of books that set up fat people as the villains or persistently associate fatness with negative personal traits or immorality, ranging from sloppy dressing through laziness, to downright malevolence. We turned this book off pretty quickly once we realised Walliams was going to be making endless mileage out of the lead character's fat father. It's a boring and unimaginative way to get your laughs, and also unkind. Not into it. Next!
