About this listen

The bookshop must have an owner . . .

If you want a story that will change your life, Chiron's bookshop is where you go. For those lucky enough to grace its doors, it's a glimpse into a world of deadly bargains and powerful, magical books.

For Cassandra Fairfax, it's a reminder of everything she lost, when Chiron kicked her out and all but shuttered the shop. Since then, she's used her skills in less . . . ethical ways, trading stolen books and magical readings to wealthy playboys looking for power money can't buy.

Then Chiron dies. And if Cassandra knows anything, it's this: the bookshop must always have an owner.

To restore the shop, she'll need the help of Lowell Sharpe, a rival bookseller who is everything Cassandra is not - and knows it, too.

But as she is plunged into a world of unscrupulous collectors, deadly ink magic and shady societies, a dark force threatens to unravel the bookshops entirely . . .

'Rich, dark and romantic, The Bookshop Below is a must read for everyone who believes in the magic of books' M. A. KUZNIAR

'Steeped in bookish magic and infused with the comfort and terror of a favourite tragic fairytale, The Bookshop Below is darkly whimsical and utterly heartwrenching' TORI BOVALINO

I enjoyed the City of Stardust, but I absolutely loved The Bookshop Below. The world building in this is masterfully done, you can tell that what you are being shown is just the tip of the iceberg, and not getting an info dump about it really lets you imagine exactly what lies beneath the water.

The cast of characters are just adorable, and broken, in the best of ways. Even the “villain” has his reasons for being such a narcissistic arse, even if he is still a narcissistic arse.

And the story that keeps you guessing until the end.

Also Errata is such a great name for a cat…

Loved it! Summers goes from strength to strength!

This book was very slow and quite dull tbh.
There is next to no world building, very little description of the magic/how the magic works and a quite frankly unlikable FMC.
I couldn't care less what happened to Cass/Cassandra and that is not how you want to feel about a main character.
There was an unconvincing love arc and an extremely unfulfilling ending.

when I read what the book was about it sounded awesome and right up my street but sadly it did not deliver as the execution of the awesome sounding story just wasn't done well 😔

sadly disappointing
