Summary

Few authors can claim to have marked a genre so thoroughly and personally that their words have leaked into every aspect of modern pop culture. Clive Barker is such an author, and the Books of Blood marked his debut - his coming out to the world - in brilliant, unforgettable fashion. Crossroad Press is proud to present Clive Barker's Books of Blood in audiobook format for the first time.

The Books of Blood combine the ordinary with the extraordinary while radiating the eroticism that has become Barker's signature. Weaving tales of the everyday world transformed into an unrecognizable place, where reason no longer exists and logic ceases to explain the workings of the universe, Clive Barker provides the stuff of nightmares in packages too tantalizing to resist.

Never one to shy away from the unimaginable or the unspeakable, Clive Barker breathes life into our deepest, darkest nightmares, creating visions that are at once terrifying, tender, and witty. The Books of Blood confirm what horror fans everywhere have known for a long time: We will be hearing from Clive Barker for many years to come.

Fourth volume of horror

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Books of Blood: Volume 4?

The story 'The Body Politic' is one of the best of the entire series; a man who's hands begin rebelling.
And the very short story 'Down Satan' about one wealthy man's scheme to build Hell on Earth, is poignant and harsh in equal measure.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

That'd be telling.

Any additional comments?

With volume four, the tone of the Books of Blood begins to change. Moving away from horrific imagery and blood and guts, (though there is still plenty of each), Barker moves to more subtle, character based elements of evil. This trend will only continue in future volumes.

Another Great Horror Collection

Books of Blood: Volume 4 is another excellent collection of horror short stories from one of the greatest writers of all time. While this collection is pretty strong, it's not quite as good as the volumes that came before.
The narrators all do wonderful jobs with their stories. I think it is a great idea to have different narrators for each story.
Another top quality presentation from Crossroad Press.
Highly recommended.

Gave me nightmares

Actually gave me nightmares! But thoroughly enjoyed the gore and bloody descriptions from Clive Barker as always. Ok

series

Would you consider the audio edition of The Books of Blood: Volume 4 to be better than the print version?

I will not say much about this book as I've already reviewed others of this series. This is more of the same and if you like the others you will no doubt like this I did not find this to be as good as some of the others.

Any additional comments?

One of the best series of short stories ever.
