Overall good little listen

Overall this is a good listen for when doing housework or general bits and bobs, with it being short stories it is easy to keep up with. Some of the stories however were a little bit drawn out and some fell slightly flat with an abrupt ending but this can sometimes happen with short stories. However overall a good listen if you are looking for a book to keep you company and entertained whilst doing house work or when driving. I do however really enjoy the narrator, his voice really brings the characters to life!

A nice collection narrated beautifully

11 good stories that held my interest. A few have a very surprising twist at the end, one in particular that I wasn’t expecting.

I have listened to a large number of audiobooks narrated by Nigel and I will continue to do so. The perfect narrative tone, the brilliant characterisations, sound effect and music make these books such wonderful listening.

Short stories with excellent narration.

This book does contain sound bites and musical clips, though these were appropriate, I know some people don't like them. Several short stories, some of them are quite open ended and leave you thinking. I did enjoy this book. As usual Nigel Peever narrated this excellently, his voice is perfect for eerie stories.

I wouldn't not recommend it -deliberate double-neg

This was an odd collection of stories, some better than others. i am no expert on literature or reviewing but some of these stories seem to take a long time to get nowhere. The narration was rather good if a little hammy, darling, but I guess it suited the feel of the tales. I've no objection to a little music at the beginnings of chapters but the noise running concurrently with the narration was annoying, distracting and even overpowering. All in all, it was quite entertaining though.

A nice collection of short stories

I really enjoyed some of the stories and some were quite creepy. Unfortunately some left me feeling I’d missed something and was waiting for the twist or point that didn’t seem to come.
Great narration as ways by Nigel. Perfectly suited to tales like these with a great balance of sound effects to go along with it.
This is my honest opinion on a free review copy.

Very enjoyable glimpses into the lives of people

Series of short stories that look at significant events in the lives of different people.
I really enjoyed that the events in the short stories felt personal to the characters. From the old lady just trying to live her day, to the well executed 100 word story, they all stuck with me. In my mind, the sign of a good story is when you are still thinking about it later in your idle moments.

I was really impressed by the sound effects used. They did not feel overdone or out of place and added to the atmosphere of the book.

This was my first book narrated by Nigel Peever, but I am certainly going to be looking for more of his work.

QUIRKY TWISTS AND TURNS

THE BOOK OF NAMES BY RICHARD STORRY is a 5 hour audible book . This book gives the readers a variety of short stories ranging from a murder on board a pleasure boat to ghosts providing food for an elderly relative. Each story has a bit of a quirky ending, making THE BOOK OF NAMES a pretty good read if you are into the weird!

I have listened to several of Richard Storry's books and each time I read one I want to read more. If you are into the weird fiction then give THE BOOK OF NAMES a listen. Not only do you get pretty weird short stories but the narrator, NIGEL PEEVER has become one of my favorites as he takes the stories and gives them a creepy life of their own.

I recieved this audiobook free in exchange for a honest review

good collection

Several creepy entertaining stories that kept my interest start to finish. Some were sad and unfair and had me hoping for more or better for the main character, especially Alice and Gerald. The music and the narrator brought it to life. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review.
