So many great ideas that don’t seem to go anywhere. Such a Shame. I agree with other reviewers about the irritation caused by mispronunciations by the performer

Great idea, horrible ending

The first book is fabulous - world building, lore laying, absolutely hooked - waited for second and found it slower and with much less originality, the third… basically I stuck with all 13 hours of it as I felt I’d invested way too much time to give up but frankly the last three hours were like revising for an exam, dull and repetitive. By the end of the series I never wanted to hear the narrator’s voice again.

I've read and listened to many books, well into the hundreds. I've NEVER had a story grip me like this trilogy has. This is unlike anything, I've ever experienced.

The characters are awesome, every one of them is believable and has their own arc of development. There are very few static characters, of which most are secondary anyway.

From the very beginning of the first book, there is a sense of something big. Something extraordinary. Sometimes trilogies have this tendency to get worse in the second or third parts, not this one. It's as good as it gets since the beginning til the finish.

One thing I have to mention, is that some people might find the pacing to be slow. There is a lot of "overthinking inducing parts" where characters go in depth on their thoughts, philosophy and experiences. It's something to keep in mind if you generally like books with more dynamic storytelling.

That said, it's absolutely full of action of many different types, for me the balance of it with the slower parts is perfect.

Just listen to the first book and go from there, I guarantee you will not be disappointed. It's well worth the credits that need to be spent.

Mind bending journey

An excellent book that rounds off the library series with heart and soul. The characters are well fleshed out and with their unique personalities, they all come to a satisfied ending. The narration that was delivered was nothing short of amazing and how she managed to portray each character with a unique voice was phenomenal. Finally, in regard to the author (Mark Lawrence) gave a fantastic world for us to explore and characters to love.

When the first book was read, me and my partner would never have imagined where we would end up (literally).

A fitting conclusion to an ambitious trilogy

I thoroughly enjoyed all three books, brilliantly written and narrated. I think what I loved about those series was how utterly different it was from any other fantasy book I have read/listened to, complex, moving and supremely entertaining. Highly recommended!
