For fans of Alice Feeney’s BEAUTIFUL UGLY and Lisa Jewell’s DON’T LET HIM IN, this atmospheric debut set on a remote Danish island steeped in the local folklore of sacrifices, tells the story of a woman returning home to inherit the cabin she fled as a teenager, where secrets lay buried.
When Liz Harper inherits the infamous Tide House on a tiny island in Denmark, she wants nothing to do with the crumbling childhood cottage she fled forty years ago. But before she can sell it, she must oversee repairs to the house. Returning to the island, she quickly faces the troubling history she had locked away.
Steeped in the lore of the Bone Tide ‑ the strong current that rips around the island—to which the women make sacrifices for safety and bounty, the residents harbor deep secrets and damaging memories. Back in the community, Liz remembers her forbidden past, and when bones are found on her newly bequeathed property, the truth can no longer be hidden.
