Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

A super-criminal - as deadly as she is beautiful - wagers all in an epic battle with a master detective, Akechi Kogoro. No trick is too elaborate, no disguise too fantastic as the two perfectly matched antagonists take turns to outwit each other.

Detective vs Criminal mastermind in 30s Japan

Akechi Kogoro is a private detective taking on the beautiful murderous Black Lizard. While she murders kidnaps and extorts as a queen of the criminal underworld, he struggles to save a young heiress from kidnap. The story is enjoyable as both Holmesian adventure with some dark twists, but also an insight into a changing 1930s Japan where dress, manners and class matter.
