Summary

Dr. Leigh Culver loves practicing medicine in Timberlake, Colorado. It is a much-needed change of pace from her stressful life in Chicago. The only drawback is she misses her Aunt Helen, the woman who raised her. But it’s time Leigh has her independence, and she hopes the beauty of the Colorado wilderness will entice her aunt to visit often.

Helen Culver is an independent woman who lovingly raised her sister’s orphaned child. Now, with Leigh grown, it’s time for her to live life for herself. The retired teacher has become a successful mystery writer who loves to travel and intends to never experience winter again.

When Helen visits Leigh, she is surprised to find her niece still needs her, especially when it comes to sorting out her love life. But the biggest surprise comes when Leigh takes Helen out to Sullivan’s Crossing and Helen finds herself falling for the place and one special person.

Helen and Leigh will each have to decide if they can open themselves up to love neither expected to find and seize the opportunity to live their best lives.

I really hope this isn't the last book of this series. It was such a treat to spend a few days in this small town with Robyn Carr. This book wasn't as awesome and the last but I still enjoyed it very much! I love knowing everyone gets a happy ending. One of my favorite things about this author is that she tells everyone's story no matter if they are young or old, they all get happy endings

I REALLY WANTED TO LOVE THIS...

I am a huge Robyn Carr fan. I just love her writing style. I was really looking forward to this book. Sullivan's Crossing is one of my favorite Series but this book fell a bit short for me. What a huge difference from "The Family Gathering". I felt like there were a few things missing from it. Where was Sully's Wisdom? Where was the real story? What about the main characters' interactions? For most of the book we are being told that the main characters were "too busy" to see each other. I wanted to love this book but I wanted a bit more. I found myself simply disliking both main characters. At First Rob doesn't want a real relationship then Leigh turns it around and she's the one not wanting a relationship. Leigh with her teenage drama had me hoping the book would end quickly. Even Sully's romance fell short. Ugh I will re-listen because it's what I do but it won't be until the next instalment is due to come out (assuming there will be another).

Love is all around us

I love Sullivan's Crossing almost as much as Virgin River and Thunder Point. Although I must admit I am anxiously waiting for another installment to both Virgin River and Thunder Point.

This addition to Sullivan's Crossing will have you grabbing your tissues. I won't give any spoilers but the whole situation with Mya just made me cry for her and Finn. Young love tested on the ultimate scale of live and death, heart wrenching.

Now, Dr. Leigh Culver and Rob Shandon, Dakota's brother in-law because he's married to Rob's sister Sidney. Dr. Culver is new to Sullivan's Crossing and already in good standing with Sully. Her and Rob's love story is fast, a bit labored because of past hurts on her part, but worth the wait for their HEA. But I have to know what is up with the women medical professionals in Carr's universe being clueless about birth control? I mean they assure the men they are with they are protected from pregnancy but they either forget to take the pill, forget how long their IUD has been in or how long its been since they've had their shot and boom they end up pregnant and then have a bit of an attitude about it like its someone else's fault. If the shoe were on the other foot I think they would be seriously pissed but the men seem to take it in stride and are already in love and good men who willing step-up, good for them but this make the women seem a little suspect. IMHO.

The third and surprising love story is between Sully and Helen, Leigh's aunt/mom. Two people who seemed very different but fit together perfectly. Helen is a writer, traveler has friends everywhere and is sick of snowy Chicago winters. Sully as we know is all about Sullivan's Crossing, he is the heart of Sullivan's Crossing. He was anxious to meet Helen because of everything Leigh told him about her and when they met he was smitten. It was so wonderful to read their story and her the shock of Leigh and Maggie that their parents were more than friends. LOL!

I enjoyed this book and wish I hadn't read it because now its over and I can only hope there will be another. I'm glad I read it because I wanted to know the next chapter in this saga. Robyn knows how to tell a story and weave prior characters in and out of a new story. She built an entire family with daughter, son in-laws, their children and the new children. Sully has so many grandchildren now. This was a joy and Therese Plummer did a magnificent job of voicing the characters and making them distinct that you never get lost of who is saying what in the conversation. That is a true narration talent.

A perfect way to spend a cold winter day

I love this series. Each new book is like visiting old friends and meeting new ones along the way. I loved the storyline and really appreciated Sully's story within the larger story.
It is totally worth a credit.
