About this listen

She was only meant to make the royal wedding gown, not wear it.

Belle never dreamed of ballrooms or crowns—she dreamed of seams and silks, of becoming the most sought-after dressmaker in all of Solmane. But when the fae princess flees her arranged marriage, Belle is left holding the wedding gown. As the fearsome Beast Prince prowls towards her looking to collect his bride, it's either pretend to be the fairy princess so her dress gets a chance to be seen by potential new clients or get sent back home poor and empty handed. She only has to hold the lie while the guards hunt down the runaway. But standing before the Beast Prince with his powerful form and disarming mix of gruffness and vulnerability, Belle discovers something she didn’t bargain for: a heart that might finally understand hers.

Born cursed in a partial shift between man and beast, Prince Adom of Pridehaven has resigned himself to a marriage he never wanted. Marrying the fae princess chosen by the moon god is the only way to break his family's curse and rid the land of the trolls that plague them. Love has no place in his life. But the woman standing before him is nothing like he imagined—spirited, sincere, and entirely captivating. Against all odds, Adom’s frozen heart begins to thaw.

Too bad secrets have a way of unraveling even the most carefully stitched plans. Belle isn't the real princess, and marrying Adom won’t break his curse leaving the fate of his kingdom and both their futures at stake.

On Lunaterra, fate is a cruel matchmaker—binding enemies, forging impossible alliances, and turning betrayal into desire. When kingdoms fall, curses rise, and war looms, love is the most dangerous game of all.

This is a well-crafted and thoughtful retelling of Beauty & the Beast, but with a twist. The story takes place on Lunaterra, a planet ruled by jealous gods, it's inhabited by shifters, fae, humans and trolls. Adom is the Beast in this story, born to parents who were cursed for falling in love and not marrying as the Moon God wished. He was born half lion, half man with no way to shift to either form. Doomed to stay like that until he marries a princess of the Moon God's choosing. Charlotte is the Fae Princess who was promised to him from birth. Once they marry, his curse will be lifted and his land will be freed from the constant troll attacks. It's a marriage neither he nor Charlotte wants.

The story starts with Charlotte's arrival at a run-down castle where she is to meet Adom prior to their wedding. But Charlotte loves another and so takes flight. This leaves her mother, the Fae Queen and Belle, a servant and the maker of her wedding dress, holding the fort, so to speak. The Queen commands Belle to pretend to be Charlotte until Charlotte is found and forced to marry Adom.

I don't want to spoil this beautiful retelling by giving too much away, but I will say that I loved every minute of this story. The characters are all very well drawn, and the story moves smoothly along at a good pace, taking the listener on a rollercoaster ride along with Adom and Charlotte.

I loved the main characters, Adom and Belle, he has known nothing but hurt in his life since the death of his father. Whilst Belle may be a servant but she isn't afraid of him, and meeting her gives him hope that perhaps their life together could be something more than duty.. There's an instant attraction between these two which sees below the surface and shows that beauty of the soul is far more important than outward appearances.

Their story is a complete stand-alone and can be enjoyed as such, but it did leave me wondering about what happens to Charlotte and the love of her life, Jorge and hoping that they get their own story.

The narration performed by Sean Crisden, who brings a depth and a sensitivity to Adom, which I found quite mvoing and Keylor Leigh who brought Belle to life so well.

I look forward to listening to more of this series.

The Beastly Crown is a very clever retelling of my favourite fairytale, Beauty and the Beast. There are a few differences in this version to the original which I have to say worked really well. Although it was a short read it was really very enjoyable with a few unexpected twists and a nice amount of spice.

A Beauty & the Beast retelling with a paranormal twist. Lunaterra has shifters, fae, and trolls.

Belle is a fae servant, hoping that creating the wedding dress for the Prince Beast and Princess Charlotte. But she ends up temporarily stepping into the princesses place.

I loved the main characters, Adom was all kinds of hurt and alone after growing up a beast. When Belle doesn't shy away from him, he feels like his life could be something more. There's an instant attraction between these two.

It was an enjoyable story, we get to see Adom & Belle spend lots of time together, and I loved the ending and how it all worked out. The world building is interesting, and I want to read more from this series.

I have to say I have never heard a male voice so growly. It was amazing to hear when he was the Beast, definitely added to the story. I also enjoyed the female narrator for Belle. This audio was a duel narration.

Belle and Adom are great together. When your first memory is the scream from the midwife and you've been treated like a monster just because you match the look your entire life, Belle's honest reactions without fear must be refreshing. Great narration of the audiobook, and a great retelling of Beauty and the Beast with mistaken identity, a runaway princess and a great romantacy with our couple defying even the moon.

Beautifully performed! Ines gives us a wonderful Beauty and the Beast retelling with a twist in a shared world series. The story brings Belle to the Beast Prince's attention when the Fae princess, Charlotte, runs away leaving Belle holding the dress she created for Charlotte to get married in, and a similar build and colouring to the princess. Adam is told that Belle is Charlotte, but gets a far different reaction from her than expected when she truly sees him despite the curse that keeps him in a half-shifted form. His curse is meant to be broken with the wedding to the princess.. saving himself and his people from the trolls. Find out what happens by diving into this beautifully written story with complex characters and plot twists that keep you turning pages throughout on the way to their HEA. I loved reading this story and highly recommend it! Don't miss out on this book!!
