Summary

A few bad choices can ruin someone’s life, but what if the choices weren’t yours to make?

In the blink of an eye, life can change for the better or the worst. Future ER surgeon and grief-stricken Caidence Tucker learned that the hard way. Caidence has her life on track, but after a night out with her best friend, she is forced on the run with the protective boxer Noah Park. Dragging someone else into her battle is the last thing she wants to do, but with no knowledge of who is after her or why, Caidence is forced to rely on Noah’s unique skills and killer instincts.

Caidence is in danger because of someone else’s choices, but it will be her own that decide her fate.

Heart-pounding series.

Who wouldn’t love the story of a damsel in distress and a gallant warrior coming to save her!? Caidence fell into a dangerous world she didn’t know existed because of a promise made by her long dead sister. And only Noah has the power and connections to keep her safe. This exhilarating story had my heart pounding from page 1 and I wouldn’t give it up for the world.

I would read another of these books.

This entire book is about a girl running from some men who hold a grudge against her dead sister. Then, a guy who is a perfect stranger to her risks his neck to keep her safe because of something he witnessed years ago. The idea of the book seems backward and far from interesting. But this story was written well and in a way that held my interest throughout.

Check out this riveting romance book.

I didn’t realize how short this book was until it ended, but even then, I can’t say I was disappointed. It pulls in so many dangers and obstacles on each page that kept the book moving. I lost track of time and was so absorbed by the book that it felt like I finished it in a matter of minutes. Caidence and her internal struggle makes the book even better and more relatable.

It's decent enough.

I’m not impressed with short stories, but I bought this one knowing how I felt about them. In hindsight, it was a poor decision on my part. While the book had the usual fast paced tendencies of a short stories, it was decent. Had it been longer, I would have fallen in love. But Caidence and Noah didn’t have enough time in this book to develop a great romance, so I was unimpressed with something described as a romance book.

This is one of the short stories I enjoyed.

I never leave reviews on short stories because most aren’t worth my time, but this one is a gem. It has everything I could ask for in a book, including crazy action, a hotter than life guy who is protective over a down to earth girl, and (my absolute favorite) an ending that leaves something to the imagination!

Okay, but some of the scenes are overly dramatic.

To be honest, a lot of the scenes are dramatic—and I mean overly dramatic. The main character seems to be more concerned with her job than her life. I understand that she worked hard for it and her sister’s death changed her outlook on life, but she takes the workaholic story to an entirely new level. I wish the main character was a little more likable. If she was, it would be a memorable book.

I still love the book.

As much as I love a good book with a badass guy, Noah is too unrealistic. I can hardly imagine someone who is dedicated only to boxing with no friends in sight. This book is a prime example of why men’s emotions need to be more publicly accepted. Noah was written without any emotions. That being said, I loved the book. Caidence was a great character and by giving Bruce a brother, it humanized the bad guy. That’s always an impressive accomplishment in fiction.

This is a common thing I see in short stories.

So much happened in such a short book. I’ve read novels with less big events. This kept me on the edge of my seat and I’m sure that was the tactic the author utilized. But it was way too much too fast. I felt like the characters were not given enough time to make a relationship but were forced into one instead.

There was a lot of information given.

There is so much detail in this book—maybe even a bit too much. Personally, I am a fan of a dialog driven novel, but there was a lot of subtext. Yes, it is important to have descriptions and additional information. I want to hear the character’s speaking to characterize them, but there isn’t nearly enough of that. There was a lot of information given, which was good.

This has all the action I need.

I can’t complain about anything in this book. From start to finish it took me on a ride of a lifetime. From being kidnapped to almost kidnapped and on the run with a sexy near stranger, this book has all the action needed. I cannot imagine it needing anything else other than more pages and a sequel.

pretty great

This was a cute story, but pretty unrealistic at times. If someone attacked me outside a bar, I’d be calling the police and NOT getting into the car of the man who helped me. And then when she notices she is in actual trouble, I don’t understand why she wouldn’t get the cops involved immediately, no matter what the boxer says. It was a great and suspenseful book, but there were many parts that I could not relate to.

A lot of good detail.

There was a lot of really good detail, which helped me get immersed in the book immediately. But outside of the detail, the characters had really interesting backstories that connected and made them important to one another. Noah’s profession is another thing I love about this story. Being able to protect her because of his occupation is also really parallel to her ability to help him because of her medical training.

Satisfied with this!

I’m always hesitant going into short stories, but I was satisfied with this one! I don’t have the time to get into a novel and thoroughly enjoy it with kids running around at all hours, but short stories, though they take a while to finish, are always a welcomed distraction. This story was the exception to my busy life. I finished it in ONE DAY! I haven’t found a book so hard to put down for the better part of a year, so leaving an impeccable review on this is a must!

I'll be buying the next series for sure!

I have no complaints about this book. I like to reserve perfect reviews for books that have me either in tears, laughing out loud or feeling something deep in my soul. This book did none of these things, though I did find Noah and Caidence’s immediate connection adorable. And I stayed hooked throughout the book. I’m contemplating buying the next one in the series, but I would definitely read this one again.

bit too fast paced and sporadic

My first complaint in most books is that it starts slow, but this one didn’t have that problem whatsoever. In fact, I’d argue that it was a bit too fast paced and sporadic. There wasn’t much foreshadowing because of the short length. I love foreshadowing in a novel, especially when I realize it’s been staring me in the face from the start. If I had any complaints, the lack of foreshadowing would be it.

Everything worked out in the end.

Noah made this entire book worth reading. He was fiercely protective, hot and an utter badass. Caidence, on the other hand, is the most uptight and sniveling girl I have ever read about in a book. Because it was her perspective, the book didn’t have the ability to be amazing. I’m happy that everything worked out in the end, but Caidence could have been a much better character from the start.

I think this is great!!!

The only thing that would have made it better is if Noah had another brother with less psychotic tendencies! I adore the sweet, silent and “I can hold my own in a fight” type. And the fact that Noah’s brother was the one after Caidence all along added an interesting twist. Maybe if it had been hinted at for a bit longer, it would have come across as more of an interesting plot twist, but with the length of the book, I think it was great!

Pretty good.

I love books like this—protective males and sweet young girls who seem to need protecting from some type of danger. This one seemed rather cliché in that manner, but at the same time, it was very different than other books in its category. In a way, the book cast Noah in a negative shadow too. I was expecting something less rushed, but it was still pretty good.

I'm recommending it.

This book was SO short, but so much has happened. If it was a few more hours, I feel like everything would have been explained well and the relationship between the characters would have been much more realistic. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. The story was great, and if I were summarizing it, it would sound like a best seller. But everything happened in a matter of days. I recommend buying this but beware of the shortness.

I love this book!

Wowzah! I haven’t read a book about a girl who wants to be an ER surgeon, which is the new twist I needed to enjoy a story as dangerous and fast paced as this one. Caidence and Noah’s story didn’t give me a split second to pause and catch a breath. I wasn’t only holding my breath for their lives, but I was also considering the future poor Caidence worked so hard for after her sister’s death.
