Summary

White light. Heat. A drawn-out moment of complete silence. And then the screaming starts.

An Underground carriage in London is destroyed by a suicide bomber. The injured and the dead litter the platform. But as a crowd forms at street level, Michael Pope knows that this is only the beginning.

Pope, head of top-secret Group 15, is tasked with finding the perpetrators of this atrocity and bringing them to justice, any way he can. He knows that the answers to many of his questions will lie at the end of the money trail, but he also knows that whoever funded and organized the attack will kill again for their freedom.

This is an operation that requires a very special kind of agent. Pope needs someone who exists outside of normality. Someone who floats above it, treading softly through a fractured life.

He needs the Angel.

Enjoyable book

Would you consider the audio edition of The Angel to be better than the print version?

I like being read to, and the narrater is just right for this

Who was your favorite character and why?

Isabella. She was more mature than her 15 years, but you can see the personality developing for sequels.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Near the end when Isabella had to do as commanded and agreed

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, kept listening at every opportunity

Any additional comments?

I previously read the Beatrix Rose Hong Kong story, which I couldn't stop listening to, and this is similar but with a different sense regarding location, culture, etc. The only thing I was a little disappointed with, was the Spook - that didn't feel quite right.

Disappointing

Although I enjoyed the plot of this book, the ending was disappointing because it did not give you any choice but to either read or listen to the next book. I will be reading the next book because I found the narration disappointing. The women in the story only appeared to only able to speak in a whisper and apparently Pope spoke so deeply it was laughable.

too many storyline s going on

I have enjoyed all the John Milton stories. this book tried to bridge the two main characters . leaving the store line hanging is clearly and attempt to encourage the purchase of the next book in the series. I personally like a book to reach a conclusion. it's like finishing a good pint of beer before starting another. it is good etiquette

Found the narration annoying

The story comes to quite an abrupt end, but thankfully I had "The Asset" downloaded and ready to read. I find the narrator's voice a bit annoying but I enjoyed the story and will keep with it until Isabella and Pope's story comes the an end.

Took almost half the book to get interesting

I really found this audio book hard going (too much ‘unnecessary’ (IMO) detail that my mind would wander and I’d lose track) but once halfway through I was engrossed. I only bought the book as I’d purchased The Avenger on the daily email offer without noticing it was book 5 in a series. So having used a monthly credit for this one (book 1) I was determined to complete it. Now I’ll have to purchase books 2, 3 & 4 as I’m invested in the storyline

Woman's Voices

A good storyline only spoiled by the poor voices of the females in the story.

More Michael pope than Isabella rose

Good but needed more Isabella rose interaction, maybe the 2nd book will have more but it tended to stay more on Michael pope

What ????

What happened to the end of this book ? It's as though the author just got fed up of the book and couldn't think of a finish to the story so just wound it up, not impressed
