Brilliant from Start to Finish

Narrator T.J. Richards did a fabulous job in telling this story, really helping create this books world on our heads. As for the story itself, a cross between The Handmaidens Tale and HBO’s True Detective, with a romance involved. You are hooked from chapter one and will want to binge on this book like a great TV show

This Book Made Me Angry

This book is well written and suspenseful. The narration is spectacular. Without giving too much away, suffice it to say that this book could be triggering for anyone who experienced being a female in a fundamentalist cult.

Loved It!

This compelling story captures a listener's attention quickly and does not let up. TJ Richards's narration brings a riveting dimension to this story and I thought the characters' voices were spot-on as the horrifying scenario unfolds. Loved it!

Creepy take on old story!

If you remember the Stepford’s, this story will make you have flashbacks! What a great take on the story of the “perfect” wife. Barbara has written a thriller that will catch your attention & hold it! TJ does an admirable job keeping all the characters believable & bringing the individual personalities to life. I really love Dani & Paige! I know you will too!!!

Love wins!

Loved this story. Listened to this on a road trip with my wife (who at first was reading her own book but abandoned it by chapter 4 on audible ) and were hooked. The narrator was great!! Great story. It was thought provoking and kept us engaged. Well done!

It’s a thinker

Excellent story that makes you think about moments you wish you could go back and change. Excellent narration. It’s a captivating listen. It’s told from the perspective of two different characters which are easy to differentiate. Will definitely listen again

Excellent listen

Plowed through this one. The author did an excellent job with the plot--weaving past and present day together to tell a suspenseful (albeit scarily apt) tale. There were times where I sat in my car waiting to get to a point where I could actually stop listening. I think two or three years ago I would have thought this plot to be outlandish (still good), but hearing it in today's political climate made it feel all the more possible. I thought the narrator did an exceptional job. She read the characters consistently and uses enough voices to make each one distinguishable from the others. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good story with a romantic bent.
