Summary

New York isn't ready for Britain's most dangerous ex-assassin....

John Milton has finally found a place to escape the bloodshed: off-season Coney Island. No tourists. No special ops. Just peace and quiet. But when a local boy witnesses a grisly murder, Milton can't resist investigating.

Milton uncovers a vicious drug kingpin and a group of crooked cops from a notorious precinct known as The Alamo. Against such dangerous foes, Milton's quest for redemption could come to an end.

The 11th book in the USA Today best-selling John Milton series delivers thrills, action and twists you just won't see coming.

Milton is hard as nails, flawed, a cracking read.

John Milton is a highly skilled, tough mofo with a flawed but likeable personality.. for a trained assassin. He is in the same camp as Jack Reacher, Spider Shepard and Jo Pike.

Dawson really knows his subject and John Milton feels edgy, capable and dangerous and you still find yourself completely routing for him.

Start from Book 1.. Then when you have finished them, move onto the Beatrix Rose books because you will then be in for another most excellent treat.

Another superb Milton thriller...

The Alamo sees Milton looking for a little seclusion and quiet time, but that is soon put on the back burner when he stumbles across a young boy who has witnessed a murder. Milton soon realises that the boy is the son of someone he believes he has helped, but soon senses that the attempt at help may well have contributed to the boy being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Those responsible for the murder are hellbent on cleaning the scene up, thus Milton is compelled to help the boy and his father.
Milton soon finds himself embroiled in the world of seedy drugs rings and corrupt police officers, and puts his liberty on the line in order to try and right the wrongs.
A superb, fast paced adventure, and a gripping continuation of the wonderful Milton series.
Brilliant narration from David Thorpe once again.

Great Stuff!

Mark Dawson’s writing was inconsistent in quality in earlier books in this series. Despite that, I always love the character of John Milton. David Thorpe’s excellent narration really brings him alive. This is a punchy, well written story that goes along at a great pace. Recommended!

Great story

Struggled at first because of the English narrator but soon began to love his ability to use accents appropriately. The story was gripping and deep and a must listen to anyone interested in action adventures.

Innocent lives

No matter where John goes he always runs into trouble and this time is no exception. Wanting to help a family suffering from a bad neighbourhood he begins to root out the evil but pretty soon he’s the one being questioned and he’s not sure who he can trust.

I’m a big fan of the John Milton series but my favourite of the stories are the ones which involved children. John Milton maybe a hard-arsed killer but there’s still a soft centre in there and the innocent bring it out. Milton is a strangely likeable character and I am kind of hoping he gets some romance further down the line – hint, hint Dawson…

Brilliant as usual.

Dawson never disappoints. I've read all the Milton books at least twice. original, intricate plots, well formed characters, with the best narration I have ever heard. in comparison reacher becomes wooden and predictable. thoroughly recommended.

Loved this series

I have loved every minute of the John Milton series, the books are fantastic and the narrator is also excellent, the best I have listened to.
I have listened to every one of the 11 books back to back and now I don’t know what to do with myself! I very much hope the author writes another one soon!
If you like Jack Reacher you will love John Milton. I read all the Reacher books because the narrator was awful whereas this narrator is very talented.
