About this listen

Gareth and Gwen investigate murder amongst the Hospitallers in The Admirable Physician, the sixteenth Gareth & Gwen Medieval Mystery!

April 1150. War has come yet again to Ceredigion, and Prince Hywel marches south alongside his wily uncle, preparing to battle his own cousins. Meanwhile, Gareth and Gwen learn of murder and treachery among the Hospitallers, who are succoring the ill and wounded within the army.

As they investigate, even in the midst of war, they uncover not only murder, but treason and betrayal as well—and inadvertently set the stage for that long-awaited final reckoning within King Owain’s court.

It's so nice and rare to find a story set in medieval Wales, especially focusing on the court of King Owain of Gwynedd, where I was born and bred. This is a brilliant story, as with all the Gareth and Gwen books, so well set within factual history. Really well crafted story with natural twists and well constructed characters and relationships.

Great to have a series of stories based in North Wales read by someone who speaks the language.

Gareth and Gwen is my favourite series from Sarah Woodbury, but The Admirable Physician is one that kept me wondering what was happening, who was the killer, and for what reason.
The suspense is kept to the end and there are so many details and facts it is a joy to read.
Please Sarah more like that, ( I know you will).
It is a book not to pass.
