Summary

With a cameo by Mindy Kaling, Regina Hall performs this captivating romantic comedy with a thrilling sci-fi twist!

Trinity Jordan leads a quiet, normal life: working from home for the Hive, a multifunctional government research center, and recovering from the incident that sent her into a tailspin. But the life she’s trying to rebuild is plagued by mishaps when Li Wei, her neighbor’s super sexy and super strange nephew, moves in and turns things upside down.

Li Wei’s behavior is downright odd—and the attraction building between them is even more so. When an emergency pulls his aunt away from the apartment complex, Trinity decides to keep an eye on him...and slowly discovers that nothing is what it seems. For one thing, Li Wei isn’t just the hot guy next door—he’s the hot A.I. next door. In fact, he’s so advanced that he blurs the line between man and machine. It’s up to Trinity to help him achieve his objective of learning to be human, but danger is mounting as they figure out whether he’s capable of the most illogical human behavior of all...falling in love.

A taste of the future!

I liked this book, and so will you if Scifi or futuristic stories are your thing. It is essentially a love story but with the added twist of AI assassins and spies. It was enjoyable, with romance, action and subterfuge thrown in. Moreover, it's a taste of our potential future which makes you shudder!

Cute romance, gripping plot

The story balanced the plot and romance well, and the ending was great. A good read.

Not for me

Interesting storyline but personally I found the writing to be quite cringey and plain weird/awkward especially when performed. I liked the ending but some unanswered questions remain. Maybe they’ll be answered in the next book but I’m not overly keen on following up on this.

The audio performances is what kept me reading

Overall, I think this was a good read. However, if it was not for audible and the voice performances which included Regina Hall, I don’t think the actual storytelling would have captivated me as much.
I think the story itself is interesting and the concept too - where it’s scary to think that humans and AI could have actual relationships - not so far fetched!
However, I felt that there could have been more world building and character building. Although, I guess the centre is meant to be on Trinity and Lei Wei and things about them do unravel with time, so perhaps those two at the centre with less background was the author, Alyssa Cole’s intention.

Brilliant!

This is brilliant! I love how everything went, even though it only made sense at the end. Brilliantly moved and progressed.

Didn't realise what was hiding in plain sight.

I absolutely loved this book, one of my favourites actually. The narration voices were appropriate and the additional sound effects added that little something else. I actually wished the book was a bit longer but I realised that would be a whole new book for me to appreciate.

Very interesting

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook, absolutely different from anything I’ve ever listen to so far! The Storyline is amazing.
I definitely recommend it to anyone.

A bit too boring and "cheesy" for me

I struggled to finish this. Just found it quite boring and predictable. I also didn't Like the real life sounds effects.

Okay ,wasn't expecting so much about PTSD &anxiety

Has only a few rare funny bits.
Narration for most ,but not all characters is good. Story did make me want to know what would happen.
It did have a dark side going into her having panic attacks,PTSD (& not even decent therapy for PTSD) and her anguish ,global warming ,food shortages,a controlling society system ,flashbacks & it was really awkward in parts with the A.I. talking & not in a funny way 99% of the time. I didn't care for the future "Alexa" character, randomly looking up things like "deja vu".
Wouldn't listen a 2nd time, was expecting it to be more light hearted, but her neighbour nearly dying in front of her is hardly relaxing. It is not clean either.
