Summary

That Ghoul Ava: Her First Adventures gives you two entertainingly funny Ava tales. Relive the day she first joined the supernatural community and discover how her bond with the human Lisa Jenkins first began. Also meet regional Psychic, Morgan and the vampire that would get under Ava's skin from their first encounter in a 24 hour super market. Then, In Ava versus the Rogue Vampire, follow Ava and Lisa on their first real "assignment" on behalf of Morgan when a rogue vampire slips into Vampire Queen Belinda's territory and starts killing indiscriminately. Just don't expect Ava and Belinda to share a hug when it is done...

Witty, sassy and a little gruesome.

What did you like most about That Ghoul Ava?

It was different from all the other books I've read. None of the clichés and great one liners from the lead character. I loved the lead character and her outlook on life, I've now bought the book as well and can't wait to start on the rest of the series.

What was one of the most memorable moments of That Ghoul Ava?

Without giving away any spoilers when she first woke up in the bathroom.

Have you listened to any of Celia Aurora de Blas’s other performances? How does this one compare?

It took me until chapter 2 to start to like Celia Aurora De Blas's performance. I felt she could have breathed a little more life into such and unusual character. I also found it confusing that she couldn't give the characters different voices. It was all read in the one tone and the Irish accent was awful.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I listened over a few days whilst out walking.

Any additional comments?

Definitely buying the rest of the series, I far prefer the different narrator in the other books.

A great book well worth a listen

Would you listen to That Ghoul Ava again? Why?

I may re listen to this but only after I have listened to the whole series. I am looking forward to the next instalment.

What was one of the most memorable moments of That Ghoul Ava?

The part if the story line where Ava finds the baby and saves it sticks in my mind.
The anger she feels towards the people who did this and how she doesn't second guess what the outcome will be. The way she doesn't doubt herself while committing the self appointed revenge and not feeling any guilt for committing her first 'murder'.

Have you listened to any of Celia Aurora de Blas’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I have not heard any of her other performances but I think that with her distinct vocals I would recognise her story telling.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Although I was able to empathise with the main character I didn't cry at her sad backstory. I did have a giggle at some of her antics.

Any additional comments?

This is the first instalment of Ava and I am looking forward to getting to know her better.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
