Summary

In The Captive Celt, Bran is a British slave who has been jailed for criticising Rome. He faces execution, but luckily his cellmate Caratacus is a very special prisoner indeed.

The Grim Ghost features Pertinax, who is helping to prepare a feast in Pliny's household. The great man tells him a terrifying tale - but there's no truth in ghost stories, is there?

In The Goose Guards, Rome is under attack! Barbarians are besieging the Temple of Juno, home of trainee priest Brutus. When rescue arrives, it is from an unlikely source....

Finally, The Fatal Fire sees Mary the Christian slave girl in danger when she is the only witness to a terrible crime.
