Summary

True love perseveres in this Agents Irish and Whiskey spin-off novella from author Layla Reyne

Former FBI agent Melissa "Mel" Cruz spent years skirting the line between life and death, knowing the next assignment might be her last. Back from overseas and eager to enjoy life outside the Bureau, she's ready to give Danny Talley a Christmas Eve he'll never forget.

A proven asset in high-stakes missions, Danny's known for having the skill and brains to get the job done. When the Talley flagship is hijacked during the company holiday party, he'll do anything to save his family, his love, and everything they've all worked so hard to build. But their enemies have a secondary protocol - leave no survivors - and that plan is already in play.

Navigating through a tangled web of lies and betrayal, Mel and Danny race against the clock to retake the ship before their future goes up in flames. As the seconds tick down, they're forced to face their greatest fear - losing each other.

A pleasant surprise

I’ve not read an MF book for years but I wanted to continue with the series which I’d immensely enjoyed. Short story but I loved it.

Excellent!!!

I'm not typically a reader of m/f books, but I loved the first 3 books in this series, and Mel was an amazing character. This story was perfect. It had a great action story, insights into Mel and Danny's relationship and how they got to where they are now, and Aidan, Jamie, Cam, and Nic. This went back and forth between present day and different points of the past, and it was well orchestrated. It didn't leave my head spinning. My heart broke at the flashback scene with Gabe and Mel. It was nice to get small glimpse at the boy Aidan would eventually love and lose, and see the closeness between him and Mel. My heart hurt a little at the loss for everyone. Tristan James was once again brilliant. Great voices and accents.

enjoyed it

Would I listen to it again: yes Did the story keep me engaged: yes Was I invested in the characters: yes Story comment: I was in the mood for some Tristan James when I picked up Imperial Stout and I'm very happy with my decision. After Book 1, I dove straight into Book 2, then 3, and Tequila Sunrise was a must, before I start on Craft Brew. I enjoyed the dynamic between Mel and Danny throughout the Irish & Whiskey series and I'm happy they got their own story. Tequila Sunrise is an enjoyable addition, it's well written, has good pace and the "flash backs" give us glimpses of points in time that are clearly defined and don;t confuse the story-line (as so often happens with time changes in audio). Narrator comment: There are a variety of different character personalities in this series including: sassy Mel and (ex)playboy Danny, accent's including Aiden's Irish, Jamie's Southern and Cam's Boston, and Tristan James had done a great job bringing each character to life, he's has kept the consistency through all the books and I was completely immersed in the story.

Great performance. Story ties up some storylines

Tristan James is one of my three favorite narrators! He does such a great job with the voice and his consistency and accents are fantastic. This story is a novella in the Agents Irish and Whiskey series and he does a great job conveying the emotions, the tensions and the characters' personalities.
