Summary

Widowed at thirty-three with two small kids, Beverly Simpson wants someone to blame. Angry, hurt, and full of regret for what she's lost, she rails against a once trusted God and hides her loneliness behind a sassy exterior.

Joe Clark, intrigued by Bev’s irreverent approach to life, stubbornly pursues her. However, the pair have two very different outlooks on life. Joe is a dedicated preacher, while Bev insists she no longer believes in God. Despite being polar opposites, they can’t hide their attraction to each other, but reconciling their beliefs may be harder than they imagined. Will faith and love be enough to mend a damaged heart?

Glad I listen to this Robyn Carr book Last

I've now listened to every Robyn Carr book available on audio and give all the previous ones 5 stars. This one however is painful to listen to because of the narration. The story is good but honestly the narrator was horrible. If I would have listened to this one first i fear I would have been so turned off I wouldn't of listened to here others. Therese Plummer should do an update on this one!

Mt least favorite Robyn Carr book ever

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, I found the book to be tedious. Too many words to express simple thoughts, unlikable character (Bev), sappy character (joe). I found it difficult to listen to him basically begging her to love him throughout the story.

Do you think Tempted needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Oh no!

Any additional comments?

By the way I love Robyn Carr books...this is the first of all that I have read that I didn't like.

An insipid Sunday church sermon

A waste of time. It felt like a clerical uninspired tv show. Like no other book of Robyn Carr I've been listening to. The narrator has no talent in reading different voices. It's easy just to listen to Therese Plummer, for example. I did struggle to finish it.

One of Carr’s best

Carr does a good job of conveying how awful life has been for Beverly since her husband was first injured then died. And she does it with lots of humor and without melodrama or mushiness.
Financial security doesn’t solve grief and loneliness and people trying to fix you up and bad dates and boys who need their father.
Eby was a great choice as narrator.

Loved that it had a Christian theme

Wow Robyn! Keep writing Inspirational! Loved this! Christian romances are my favorite. This was very well written about REAL people who have real stuff go on, and stick with their faith anyway. Thank you so much.

Not a hit

I am a big Robyn Carr fan, but the story didn’t do it for me at all. The main character, Bev, was supposed to be sassy, but she came across as sad and bitter. I listened to the entire book, but it was a struggle.

Boring

This was a trite story of lost and found faith. Unoriginal cast of characters with a young, lonely widow and the handsome preacher who rekindles love and faith. Yawn.

She got on my Neves

I ended up not liking her. She was exhausting. The book cover shows a gal with hair almost down to her butt and the description in the book is of a woman with short hair. Small but annoying.

The pastor and his sinning was real but disappointing. I can understand the initial fall but the ongoing sleeping with her and then getting up and preaching a sermon (week after week) was not in his character. The author did not even show that it bothered him all that much.

The author did show insight into Christian belief in a few areas.

Thoroughly Enjoyed This story

I almost didn’t listen to this story because of one bad review, but I thought I’d try it and if I didn’t like it I could stop listening...I never did. I really enjoyed the characters and the story, it was light and funny as well as dealt with some real life situations and struggles in a good way. I chuckled and I frowned and gasped a couple times while listening. It’s definitely worth the listen.
