About this listen

The Galactics arrived with their Battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined a vast Empire that spanned the Milky Way. Our only worthwhile trade goods are our infamous mercenary legions, elite troops we sell to the highest alien bidder. In the third book in the series, James McGill is deployed on another alien world. His third interstellar tour is different in every way. Rather than meeting up with a primitive society, this time he’s headed to an advanced world. Tau Ceti, better known as Tech World, is the central trading capital of Frontier 921. McGill figures he’s lucked out. The assignment looks dull but luxurious. Tau Ceti boasts a planet-wide city with a trillion inhabitants, all of whom are only interested in making a few credits. But all is not well on Tech World. The Empire is crumbling, an invasion is coming, and McGill’s easy ride through life and death has come to an end.

In terms of pacing and storytelling, "Tech World" manages to maintain the series' standard of gripping action and intergalactic intrigue. The addition of a detective element injects a fresh twist into the narrative, keeping readers engaged and eager to learn more. The anticipation built throughout the book leaves readers eager to dive into the next instalment, further solidifying the series' addictive nature.

As I eagerly await the release of the next book in the series, I can't help but admire how Larson skillfully balances action, intrigue, and character development. The Undying Mercenaries series continues to impress, delivering an enjoyable and exciting science fiction experience that leaves readers hungry for more.

Great story and easy to listen to as I commute to work each morning, in some areas more comic book, than an adult read.

Interesting story, good ideas, fabulous narrator who brought it all to life at a good pace and managed to paint the picture using great changes of voice.

My only BIG bugbear, was for some reason the creator of this otherwise excellent book, decided it was necessary to have the hero, irresistible to women, of all ranks! So we are bored to tears as his antics are peppered through the book, after all he is tall, well built and good looking!
Not needed, not worth the ink.
Apart from this transgression, a great book.

Good and interesting story

Superbly written and Superbly narrated by Mark Boyett. Now for book 4. I've no doubt this will be equally as great.

Another superb book by B.V. Larson.
