so-so

In my opinion, the attempt at writing a suspense romance story turned out the be neither.
The male narrator was good but I didn't like the female narrator - I felt she was a little whiney. I also don't like this style of narration.

Another great G-Man story

Excellent story with lots of suspense and emotional angst. The characters from book 2 are well established with 'perfect' lives but things certainly get bumpy for Taz and Lindsey in this one! Brilliantly narrated and lots of fun. I really enjoy the humour in this series!

Wow

This one made me feel as if I didn’t need to do any exercise as it gave me such a work out with all the twists, turns and suspense. I loved Taz so it was hard seeing him hurt but I did enjoy listening to the way they put their life back together.

I also enjoyed the narration so much with this one, I was able to distinguish so easily between the characters which added to the enjoyment that I felt listening to this one.

Twisty, Turny and Gripping...

Before I even get to the actual story, I'd like to say that I found the energy of the narration compelling and the duet style was the cherry on the top! 5 stars!

If I honest this is the first book of this series for me. It's lockdown and I've been reading and reviewing various books.. So I thought "what the hell.." when I saw this title. I didn't feel that I was too out of the loop for not reading the books prior to this one, which to me shows that enough mini catch ups had been added along the way. I can tell you now, I will be listening to this whole series very soon!

If you like a mix of romance, danger, hurt, cop/military and a HEA, this is for you!

Love the G-Men!

What happens when your husband is an FBI agent, goes undercover and doesn’t tell you? Lindsey is finding out when Taz goes missing. Thinking he is on a regular mission, to find out he now is hurt and has no recollection of her or their kids is devastating. And with knowledge only she is privy to makes their reunion far from happy. Taz is home now, slowly recovering, but what they don’t realize is the danger is still lurking. Andrea Smith writes the perfect mixture of alpha male, suspense and romance in her books. Taz is the man we all fantasize about. Good looking, loyal and willing to do what it takes, he is the perfect man. Lindsey is so easy to relate to. Not easy to forgive, but wanting to with all her heart, she makes us feel her pain, and the need to ease herself back into their life. Include the likes of Natalia and her evilness and Lindsey’s mom and Slate and we have an ensemble that creates a thrilling story.

The duet narration by Alexander Cendese and Samantha Martin enhances this story, adding warmth and passion into the horrific, suspenseful circumstances. Cendese is amazing, from the Russian accent to the easy going Taz, he finds the essence of the men and makes them seem real. Martin falls into character as Lindsey, adding the strength she needs with emotions. She turns around and becomes the nasty Natalia with such ease, it’s hard to believe it’s the same person! They made this listen fantastic!

Exciting listen.

Samantha Martin and Alexander Cendese make a good job narrating this story. It has strong elements of a romantic thriller and succeeds in being an entertaining audio. Taz and Lindsey go through so much and the narrators succeed in capturing the tension and the love between these two. 💖💖💖💖

5 ⭐️

It is also more of a rant, an opinion, or observation than a review.
Taz has been one of my favorite G-men, from when he was first introduced in the series. He and Lindsey where a match made in heaven. So in my opinion this whole fiasco is Slates fault for putting Taz in a compromising situation in the first place. Having said that I can move on.
PS if you haven’t started this series it is well worth your time.
Alexander & Samantha did an excellent job narrating.

An exceptional love story!

Taz, the fifth installment in the G-Man series is, a well-composed, emotionally charged romantic suspense. I'm at awe with Andrea Smith's ability to pack so much into five hours and her handling a sensitive subject. The plot flows smoothly with clear and precise scene transitions. The story is well-executed and utterly engaging. The main characters, Taz, and Lindsey are incredible with genuine depth and strength. They were first introduced in the second book of the series, Love Plus One. Their journey in this installment is suspenseful, intimate, raw, and heart-wrenchingly emotional; I was thoroughly engrossed.

A stellar performance by Alexander Cendese and Samantha Martin. Both narrators captured the essence of the characters, and the many emotions, breathing life into the story. Taz is a beautiful story about healing, triumph, and love. I highly recommend this audiobook!

Intricate plot!

From the very beginning, it's obvious that Taz is going to have a story unlike any other G-Man. His friend and superior in the Bureau, tells him his new assignment is going to be much more undercover and dangerous than almost anything he has done before. Slate can't tell him just how long he's going to be gone and it's going to be a hard sell at home. He is going to have to be particularly vague when telling his wife, Lindsey, about any of the details. Assigned to infiltrate a cartel thought to be trafficking in particularly dangerous drugs with whispers of terrorist activity, it isn't long before everything goes wrong. Taz is shot in a scuffle with Capri and Natalia, leaders of the cartel, and the bullet grazed his head, taking away his memory. But before he's shot, he has the presence of mind to deliver a kick to the neck of Capri, killing her instantly. Natalia is bent on revenge, since that was the woman she loved. This is where I get uncomfortable and what happens between Taz and Talia next is a trigger for me. Perhaps it's needed for the overall story, but I wish it could have been handled differently. When Taz returns to the United States without his memory, Lindsey is devastated to see her husband in this condition. Much worse are the videos she has received from Talia. Unable to so much as face her husband, she withdraws. With the help of a therapist, Taz and Lindsey try to get their marriage put together again. Their road back to each other is not an easy one and I felt heartsick for them through their struggles. But Natalia isn't done with them quite yet. She has another identity and partner who are threatening Lindsey and her mother. Somehow, they have to alert Taz and Slate as to the life and death danger they're in. There are many plot lines going on all at once and they're nicely tied up at the end and with some major surprises! Andrea Smith wrote a wonderful ending , giving Taz and Lindsey another happily ever after.
I listened to the audio book version and Alexander Cendese and Samantha Martin did an exemplary job with the narration. Samantha gave the children perfect voices that made me smile each time I heard them.

Love this story!

OMGosh this is so good! First off I love these characters! How they get into and out of trouble just amazes me. Then the love Taz has for his wife and kids makes him almost perfect. Speaking of kids when Samantha Martin voices their daughter?!? Outstanding! I loved every second of listening to her voice Harper. Great combination of excellent writing and narration! Kudos to both!

I listened to this on audio. The narration is excellent! Alexander Cendese and Samantha Martin Each played their respective parts perfectly. I loved they each played the character through the whole story not just chapter by chapter.

Taz & Lindsey Face Excruciating Challenges...

Taz & Lindsey Face Excruciating Challenges After Taz’s Highly- Sensitive Undercover Operation Blows Up, Sending Their Marriage Into A Tailspin. There Is Danger And Suspense As The Story Unfolds With A Few Twists And Turns.

This is the fifth book in the G-Man series. It reads perfectly as a standalone, but fans will appreciate having read Love Plus One, book two in the series, prior to reading this. Love Plus One is the story that brought this memorable married couple together in the first place. The couple in Diamond Girl, book one, plays a role here as well. Fans get a peak at Slater and Samantha in the future, though mostly as it pertains to their relationships with Taz and Lindsey rather than them as a couple. Lindsey’s best friend Darcy from Night Moves, book three in the series, makes a few appearances as well. But this story belongs to fan-favorite Taz Matthews and his wife Lindsey – Slater’s best friend and Samantha’s daughter.

This book opens just over three years after the close of Love Plus One. Taz has turned thirty-three, and Linsey is now twenty-four. They are very happily married. Their three-year-old little girl Harper is the apple of her father’s eye. Little Jackson is sixteen months and insists on sleeping with his parents. Taz has earned his PhD and landed his dream job in the FBI’s BAU, so he no longer works under Slate. Instead of undercover work, he now spends most of his days profiling. Lindsey has finished school and is building an interior decorating business in partnership with her mother. Their specialty is in nursery designs and playrooms. Slate and Sammie have two little boys. Bryce – six, and Sidney – four. Like Taz, Slate is a very happily married family man now. Darcy, who is married now to Taz’s older half-brother Easton, has son Weston, about a year and a half old, and daughter Carson, four months old.

Lindsey had followed Taz’s advice and gotten help to get past her traumatic kidnapping and torture by Kyzer Stanfield and Susan Reynard. That the woman her father had run off with had also been Kyzer’s step-mother had been mind-boggling, but Taz had followed his instincts instead of bureau policies and just barely got there in time to save Lindsey. As a result of her rescue and the bust, he became a legend at the FBI. Lindsey’s father is now dead and the culprits in prison, so life has largely moved on.

When Slate pulls strings to get Taz assigned to a highly top-secret multi-agency case that he has been leading for the past year, Taz’s instinct tells him to walk away. Slate wants him back in the field, undercover, in an operation with national security implications. But this operation also hits close to home. Susan Reynard had been pardoned by the DOJ in a hushed move in exchange for information she offered up identifying some oversees terrorist groups. Slate had busted Susan himself and hadn’t trusted her motives, so he tracked her activities and found concerning evidence. She is currently running an operation along the southern border. Slate’s group is monitoring her communications, and there are mentions of a ‘cause.’ In addition to the known fact that Susan is into sophisticated designer drugs, Slater is convinced that they will soon discover even bigger plans. There are two agents planted in the operation currently – Marco and ATF Agent Cecil – and a third is needed ASAP. Susan would recognize Slate so he is not an option, hence he turns to Taz. Slate predicts the operation will take two to three months max. Taz reluctantly agrees to accept, hoping to pull it off faster.

Though the separation is difficult, the couple is used to this routine. Taz cannot share any details with Lindsey, but he also doesn’t want to make her worry unnecessarily by alerting her to the highly sensitive nature of the operation. Still, he has to admit that this time he won’t be calling to check in. As he leaves, Lindsey and her mother are wining and dining a potential big client. Liam Avery has a chain of businesses that could keep Lindsey and Sammie busy for a good while. He is handsome but a little older. Although Taz trusts Lindsey, he cannot help but share his suspicions of Liam’s intentions when the man joins them for dinner on the eve of his departure.

Taz is three weeks into his assignment when he is on the verge of uncovering Susan’s plans. Susan now goes by Capri DeSantis, and it is unclear whether it is her or the younger and more intelligent beauty that she bunks with, Natalia Scorpio, that runs the show. Both are evil sociopaths. But things blow up that night, and it changes everything for Taz and Lindsey.

Taz returns home to a marriage on the brink of failure and a life he hardly recognizes. He and Lindsey both have a hard battle ahead. They face personal issues as well as the issues that plague their marriage. Between family and career, finding time to address them is easier said than done. The couple that had fallen so deeply in love just a few years ago is at risk of losing everything that they built together. The poison is contagious, infecting other relationships as well. This is not a story of falling in love and happily ever after. It is a story of the real challenges faced by a happy couple and the choices they make in light of them. It is about finding love again.

But hold on to your seat, because there are still a few surprises in store. This is a G-Man book, after all. This book belongs to Taz. Though a romance, it is a serious look at the life of an undercover FBI Special Agent and the challenges of maintaining a healthy marriage. Here Taz and Lindsey search for the kind of deep and mature love that will sustain them for a lifetime of challenges to come. It takes time and perspective, but the couple eventually finds a happy ending.

Wow! Taz and Lindsey’s story has it all – sizzling chemistry, crime, family drama, and suspense. Taz really is amazing as a family man, and it is hard to see him – an alpha – struggle when things get tough. This story is very real, and allows the characters to process all the events and to express their raw feelings. Lindsey is younger and less experienced, so she comes from a different angle than Taz. Though Taz has huge challenges and this book is more serious in tone, he remains an adorable alpha protector. On her part, Lindsey struggles between principle and realism when she takes the time to process her new reality. But like in the first book, she isn’t quick to accept help, instead shuts people out in a crisis. She and Taz both make mistakes. They are both written to feel very real. Their characters are well-rounded with friendships, careers, and interesting family dynamics. The reader is absolutely immersed into their worlds.

Taz and Lindsey face excruciating challenges after Taz’s highly- sensitive undercover operation blows up, sending their marriage into a tailspin. There is danger and suspense as the story unfolds with a few twists and turns. The story is well-written and plot-driven. The writing is dense with detail. The characters are carefully crafted and three-dimensional. Their dialogue is very natural and real. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Taz and Lindsey. I rate this book 4.5 stars.

As for the Audio: it is well-performed and consistent with the review.

5/5

Taz is book 5 in the G-Man series. I haven't listened to any others in this series and was able to follow along just fine. Taz is fast-paced and action-packed. I loved the dual narration with Taz being the main POV.. I enjoyed Taz and Lindsey's relationship and how they were able to reconnect after Taz's undercover op went south (ha, literally). Andrea Smith portrayed real emotions that would go along with the videos that were sent to Lindsey. I really like this book and would love to explore the rest of this series.

Great Ending to the G-Man Series!

It's nice to see how it all ended. I enjoyed the whole series and it kept my attention and I wanted to know what was next. The narration has continued to improve as the series progressed and the duet-style on Taz was great. Definitely worth a listen. I will be looking for more books from the author.

Fast paced, suspenseful and Steamy 🔥🔥🔥

This is my first audiobook by Andrea Smith and it didn’t disappoint!! Taz and Lindsey are both strong, loving, and independent people. Their story is filled with suspense, deceit, sizzling chemistry, action and revenge. There were multiple obstacles to overcome, everything from memory loss, betrayal, infidelity and terrorist activities, all of which were well executed throughout the story! Alexander Cendese and Samantha Martin’s performance was wonderfully enacted causing me to feel a wide range of emotions! The characters were also very well developed and likable. Overall, I loved this story and was estatic that Taz and Lindsey triumphed over their enemies!

Loved this story.

Overall this was a really good book. I was however a little disappointed with the narration, because if you tried to listen at regular speed it has the narrators voices sounding slow and sluggish. So having to listen to the book at 1.5 to 2 times the normal speed also messed up the way the original narration was probably meant to sound. It just kind of messed with the overall enjoyment of the audible experience. Otherwise this is a very good story with real, down to earth characters and a truly plausible storyline. Enjoyed this story overall.
