This wasn’t as good as the other 4. I wanted more. Claire and Gibbs I was so excited for and it fell a bit flat for me. The ending was too rushed for what came out. There were parts I loved. Johnny and Gibbs scenes were incredible and Gibbs as a character, did not disappoint. Claire well…I’m not sure how I feel about her. There is still a lot of unanswered questions and I hope I get the answers to them. The jumps in time were too big compared to the last 4 books which was a bit off too. The narration as ever was top notch and I still enjoyed it but I didn’t lose as much sleep as I did the other books…

Strong storylines and plenty of humour

This time we get to hear Claire and Gibsie’s story, as with the rest of the series this book is an emotional rollercoaster. The story picks up from the previous books and covers their first term back at Tommen.

The characters have appeared quite a bit in the previous books but there’s definitely more to them than meets the eye especially Gibsie. In true Tommen style his story is heartbreaking and definitely requires caution when reading/listening to (check the trigger warnings).

As the book went on I did want to slap Claire. Towards the end there’s a storyline where she says Gerard about 50 thousand times and is overly dramatic. I was screaming for Shannon just to slap her!! For this it lost a ⭐️

I’m still on my crusade for authors/publishers to use different narrators for each different pov book(s). The narrators are excellent but will always be Johnny and Shannon.
