Summary

A social experiment (a scary but exciting concept): marry a total stranger, live together for six months, and journal everything.

Feelings. Fights. All of it.

After six months, we each get $50,000 in exchange for our journals, whether we stay married or not. But the goal is to commit to the experience and see if the relationship experts could put together the perfect matches.

I have never been lucky in love. This was my chance to find my soulmate. I couldn't wait to meet the man the experts felt was perfect for me. My hopes were immediately dashed when I saw him at the altar. I married my worst nightmare. Right?

Contains mature themes.

My favourite!

Every time I read a new book by Carian Cole all I can think is “How does this author come up with this stuff?”. I loved the story. These two are my favourite couple along with Storm and Evie.

Wonderfully written

I absolutely loved this book, it was my first Corian Cole book and I’m glad I’m bought it. I loved every chapter, I listen within 2 days I just couldn’t stop. Wonderfully written, perfect love story. It’s also made me buy the other books in the Ashes and Embres series.

Better the second time

Listening to this book the second time is so much better,I've found myself smiling at parts like it's being said to me. Picturing who my Talon would be makes the story just that bit more interesting

I LOVE this series!!!! PLEASE TELL ME ITS NOT OVER?? I need more... I need Asher's story!

This book was a mix of everything! It was emotional, funny, sexy, painful and so beautiful! I honestly thought it was going to be a little cheesy because of the way these two meet but it was anything but! Talon plays the "cockstar" but deep down that man is beyond adorable! I swear there were 2 different Talon's in this book because he changed so much! Asia is just a girl looking for someone to love her. She has ambition and expectations but does she really know what she needs...Nope! These two were like water and a rock... they banged heads until they finally broken each other down. I honesty can't say enough about how much I loved this series. This is my first book series by this author but it won't be my last. I will be stalking all of her pages waiting and dying for the next book. Storm was sweet and sexy, Vandal was sad and dark, Lukas was so honest and light and then Talon was a mix of all of those things. If you haven't read these yet, I highly recommend them!!! Thank you audible for the recommendations on my home page because I had never heard of these books before that.

This book had another narration change. Normally I hate narration changes but these books were all different POV so was ok to change it up.

Not As Intense As The Others In The Series....

….but still an AWESOME story!

All I can do is ditto all the other positive reviews. I liked Talon because he was a happy confident person who wasn't broken or scared which was a refreshing change. I loved his teasing personality. The only negative for me was, this story's plot wasn't as captivating or as intense as Storm's, Vandal's or Lukas's story but was still well worth the time and credit. Can't want to see what Carian Cole brings to audio next! ….

More than 5 stars and the moon!!

Talon is a standalone story in the Ashes & Embers series.

"Then don't be a star, Talon. Be the moon. Shine above all of them."

I listened to the audiobook of Talon for a re-read. I already loved the book, but the story really took on a new life, a whole other dimension through some amazing narration.
Talon is a member of the rock band Ashes & Embers. He is beginning to feel like his life is too shallow and he longs to find his soulmate.
Asia has been unlucky in relationships and has begun to feel like maybe she just isn't enough.
They both sign up for a social experiment that attempts to make the perfect match. Marry a stranger that is chosen for you and stay together for 6 months.

"Marrying you doesn't change who I am."
"No, but it changes who we are together," I grab her hand to stop her fingers from nervously circling on her leg. "Together, we're supposed to be better."

This story is beautiful, both heart wrenching and life affirming as it deals with some tough issues. The book is sexy with a swoon worthy rock star Hero and an amazing sweet heroine. It is an emotional story that brought me to tears, but also made me laugh.

"I love you too, jelly bean. With every one of my f'n' heartbeats."

Carian Cole has fast become a favorite one-click author and Sean Crisden & Elizabeth Hart are now among my favorite narrators!

Wow!

This was genuinely a well written story that translated perfectly into audio format. It showed heart it showed passion it showed comedy, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The characters personalities truly shined through and it developed so well throughout the story. This is been a really good story to listen to I listen to this one first instead of listening in the reading order. But now I'm hooked and just purchased the book one

Unusual, upbeat rock romance!

I read the series and am now making my way through the audible performances. I really enjoyed this unusual aspect of this story. The H/h marry without knowing each other. Their relationship takes a journey that is sometimes humorous, angst ridden and ultimately has you cheering for their happily ever after. Talon is a flawed, but caring husband Asia (I spelled it wrong I know) is dying to be loved but has trust issues. Their journey to love is a fun listen and I think most people would enjoy this light hearted banter!

Sigh

This was well written. It sucked me in and I couldn’t stop listening. It made me feel things. For that reason, I gave it four stars.

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in it, personally. However, I believe there are women who would actually give that man another chance time after time as he said “I’m sorry. I f’d up” a hundred more times. I am not going to take stars away when the writing was good just because I personally felt what Talon did was unforgivable. Not because of the heat of the moment, but because it went on for months and months and he did the one thing that was her greatest trigger. Did I believe she would take him back at the end? Yes, because Asia has serious abandonment issues and insecurities. But should she have? Nah. If these were real people he would just keep breaking her heart. Neither one really shows any character growth. If I were going to believe in a HEA, I needed to see big time character growth. All I saw was Talon trying to be “cute” to win her over. He should have been on his knees begging for forgiveness, not being smarmy. My problems with Talon started early on. He was a thoughtless selfish jerk. It took FOREVER for me to start to like him. All his sexual come ons and jokes skeeved me out. They weren’t funny to me. They just made him look like a pig. HOWEVER, Asia found him cute and wasn’t bothered by his constant sexual jokes (after he told her she was unattractive), and his constant thoughtless behavior.

Finally, FINALLY, he started to seem like a decent person and I started to like him. Honestly, the drugs and alcohol should have been a big enough “challenge”. I would have left him by the time he made it home, personally. But they worked through his “I f’d up” yet AGAIN. But fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. The fact that she went back for THIRDS at the end? Yikes. Girl needs a therapist and so does he.

There are relationships in the real world like this, though. The ones where the girl is super insecure and the guy is a douche canoe who throws an “I’m sorry, ok. I f’d up. I’ll try to do better.” And she is just so grateful that he’s sorry and wants to be with her that she can forgive just about anything. In that respect, it was pretty real life.

The book was well written, no doubt. I literally cried reading it. And the author has a really good grasp on the emotional upheaval that comes with depression and physical disabilities. It was very realistic.

For myself, however, I was really disappointed that Talon ended the same smarmy jerk that he started. And Asia was the same insecure girl who just wants to know why everybody leaves her. How amazing it could have been if Talon ditched the stupid, goofy come-ons and flirting (because how does FLIRTING build trust) and asked Asia to go to therapy with him? Really opened up about his own deep insecurities and worked in therapy to deserve her? And how amazing would it have been for Asia to have had her own epiphany near the end where she realized that being abandoned was never her fault and to work through those insecurities. I hated how she handled his betrayal. It was so unhealthy. I hated how he felt he could (and did) just act cute to get her back at the end after a brief apology and excuse, following months of inexcusable behavior. He is classic self obsessed, but cheesy-charming. The excuse of what caused his behavior doesn’t fly when it’s really not that different from how he behaved all along (always thinking about himself, not others) and that it went on for so long. He isn’t emotionally healthy, and he isn’t any more trustworthy at the end than at the beginning.

Geez, that was hard!

This started out so good! I was so into it. Especially, since I LOOOVE Sean Crisden! (Speaking of which, not enough Sean in this book!) But at about the halfway point, Asia became insufferable. Her insecurity was infuriating and so obnoxious, I literally had to stop listening and come back to it later. I mean, I get having character flaws, but this was too much. I know realistically, there are people like that in the world and it makes sense given everything she’s been through. But it really made the second half drag. THEN! freaking Talon started in with his craziness and insecurity. And I know he was sick and stuff, but I couldn’t handle both of the main characters being so STUPID! This was frustrating and hard to finish. But the first half was awesome.

Sean and Elizabeth are the complete audible pkg!

What made the experience of listening to Talon the most enjoyable?

Sean and Elizabeth brought Talon and Asia to life like no other audible story I've listened to. They each put so much emotion and personalities into the characters, making me wish the story would never end. I can't thank them enough for this story and, of course, the gift of the story from Carian.

Who was your favorite character and why?

It would be so difficult to pick my favorite character. Sean gave Talon life with his snarky, sarcastic and vulnerable performance, and Elizabeth gave Asia such a real honest sweetness and brought to life the inner strength she wasn't aware of. Each made you love both characters and put you on the emotional roller coaster that Carian had intended.

What about Sean Crisden and Elizabeth Hart ’s performance did you like?

Sean has the complete package with his voice and delivery. Elizabeth's voice was just the perfect fit for Asia. Both brought Talon and Asia to life. There couldn't be any others who could out perform this delivery.

Excellent as usual!

I love all of Carian Cole's books but this one was the first to make me cry. I really enjoyed this story. There was no insta love but two people getting to know each other and slowly falling in love.
