About this listen

Dive into the wondrous world of The Stranger Times with this carefully curated selection of short stories from C.K. McDonnell. Drawn from the award-winning The Stranger Times podcast, they are collected in print for the first time, along with the new novella ‘The Raven’. Experience the magical underworld of Manchester (and beyond) with stories featuring lovelorn trolls, blood-thirsty books and a constipated dog who may’ve accidentally consumed a portal to another dimension. Featuring McDonnell’s trademark blend of black humour, outlandish ideas and expertly realised characters, this collection is perfect for first time readers and existing fans keen to learn more about the world he has created.

If you like The Stranger Times this is a great way to spend time. Added to that Brendan McDonald is the best narrator I have heard, and in this selection his range is broadened further.

My favourite short stories from this book were the first and the last, however they were all good.
Nice to have some characters from the other full length books too.

Fabulous As Ever

Tried to spread these out - listened in one day! So engaging and the narration just the highest standard as usual. I will definitely revisit because I was in such a hurry to listen I don’t think I took it all in!

Top notch as usual
